GALEN PFLEDERER

 

Galen K. Pflederer of Huntley, formerly of Elgin, died peacefully on Feb. 20, 2019, at the age of 92.

Galen was born on March 11, 1926, in Elgin, Illinois, the son of Fred and Emma Pflederer. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps, attended Northwestern University and worked as an engineer in post-war reconstruction in Berlin. He moved to Kincardine in 1967 to manage a small manufacturing plant, then operated his own design, fabrication and machine shop. Some of his work included steel bicycle racks for downtown Kincardine and diving platforms for the north pier. He returned to the United States in 1978 and resided in Tennessee and Arkansas before moving back to Illinois. He was a private pilot and enjoyed boating, snow and water skiing and fishing.

Galen is survived by his brother, Jack (Shirley) Pflederer and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and by his brothers, Lyle and Fred Pflederer.

Visitation and service were held on Friday, March 1, at DeFiore Funeral Home, 10763 Dundee Road, Huntley, Illinois. Burial will be private at Lakewood Memorial Park.
