There is no doubt after viewing the work of Amanda Melinz that she is captivated by the form and spirit of horses.
Melinz is the guest artist at the Victoria Park Gallery through the month of August. She grew up in Kincardine, and while she now lives in Hockley Valley, she returns to the area often to visit family.
Her love of horses started early. She rode in equestrian events while in high school. Her early work, which was more abstract, doesn’t reflect her current pursuits. Right now, almost all of her work is large-scale painting and all are animal based, with horses in particular, the feature.
In 2014 she won the grand prize out of over 70 entrants in the Headwaters Signature Artist competition. She also painted the first full-scale statue of a horse in the Headwaters Parade of Horses event in 2015.
Guests can view Melinz’ work at the Gallery during business hours. All pieces displayed are available for sale.
