Kincardine Theatre Guild presents Cinderella: A Pantomime

By Tammy Schneider
As opening night draws near, the cast of about 30 actors, aged seven to 70, and crew behind the Kincardine Theatre Guild production of Cinderella: A Pantomime, are busy putting the final touches on the play.
The play is for all ages, full of music, jokes and laughs. A take-off on the original Cinderella story, the show is a pantomime, not a mime, and is characterized by outrageous costumes, slapstick humour, double entendre and the element of exaggeration. Vocals and behaviour are “over the top”.
“This is the only stage performance where the audience is part of the show,” said co-director Bonnie Bryan.
In this panto, the dames, or ugly sisters, are played by men, a tradition in the theatre world.
The play is co-directed by Bryan and Matt Harvey, and produced by Sarah Davenport.
The show runs from Nov. 14 to 30, and offers both evening and matinee performances. The complete schedule is available on the Guild’s website at Tickets are now on sale, and can be purchased at JB’s Lingerie (cash only) during regular business hours, or can be purchased online through the website. For full information on ticket purchase policies, click on the “tickets” tab on the website.
