MILES MICHAEL KELLY

Myles Michael Kelly (WW II Veteran), of Kincardine and formerly of Manitouwadge, died at Southampton Care Centre, on Thursday, February 16, 2012, in his 88th year.

Beloved husband of Marjorie Kelly (née McMenemy).  Dear father of Russell (Theresa) Kelly of Vancouver, Daniel Kelly (Carol Desilet) of Manitouwadge, Brian Kelly (Edwina "Casey" Weichert) of RR#2 Tiverton, Marjorie Bell of Kincardine and Linda Hunt of Kincardine.  Predeceased by his daughter Nancy Kelly.

Sadly missed by his grandchildren, Angie (Ron), Kim, Trista, Myles and Mike (Krista) and his great-grandchildren Caleb, Taylor, Talia, Katherine, Meah and Monica.

Loved brother of Margret (Keith) Penford of Wyoming.

Also predeceased by his brothers Jim and Wilmer and his sister Eileen.

NORA BAILEY

Nora Bailey (née Cunningham), of Kincardine, died at Brucelea Haven in Walkerton on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2012, in her 98th year.

Beloved wife of the late Samuel "Sam" Bailey.

Dear mother of Bruce (Barbara) Bailey, of London. Loved grandmother of Chris Bailey and Tanja (Jim) Youngson; and great-grandmother of Aileen Bailey (Scott McComb), Alex (Louise) Bailey, and Dana, Rachel and Mikayla Youngson.

Predeceased by four brothers and ten sisters.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street, Kincardine, from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2012. The funeral was held at the Kincardine United Church at 1 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6, 2012, with Rev. Don Harry officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Christopher and Alex Bailey, Jim Youngson, Scott McComb and Terry Taylor.

JACK BOWERS

“Jack” John Laishley Bowers, of Chesley, and formerly an RCAF pilot with the 422 and 426 Squadrons during the Second World War, passed away at home on Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, in his 91st year.

Predeceased by his beloved wife “Betty” Mary Elizabeth (née Terry) Bowers in 2004.

Loved father of Andy and his partner Susan Barkley, of Morrisburg; Bill and his wife Jocelyn, of Walkerton; Don and his wife Dorinda, of Kincardine; and Margie and her husband Stephen Blender, of Owen Sound. Jack will be missed by his 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

EVELYN GAYNOR

Evelyn Elizabeth Gaynor (née Hall), of Kincardine, died peacefully at the home of her daughter Trish, on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in her 88th year.

Beloved wife of the late Lyle Gaynor.

Dear mother of the late John Gaynor; Sharon Zettel and her husband Mike, of Kincardine; and Trish Wettlaufer and her husband Wayne, of R.R. 2, Tavistock. Sadly missed by her grandchildren: Jennifer Gaynor, Matt (Nany) Gaynor, Will Gaynor (Christie Masse), Andrew Zettel (Lora Freeman), Scott (Jen) Zettel, Adam Wettlaufer (Jess Feagan), Darryl Wettlaufer and Brett Wettlaufer; and by her great-grandchildren: Carter and Craig Zettel.

Survived by her daughter-in-law, Nora Swanson; step-sister Joyce Moran and her husband Alvin, of Dungannon; brother-in-law Leon Gaynor (Sandra), of Goderich; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

It is with great sorrow that the family of Harry Barnes announces his passing on Jan. 15, 2012.

He is lovingly remembered by the family that he cherished: his wife of 60 years, Anne; daughters Christine (Harvey) Johnson and Michele (Dan) Bartley; his grandchildren: Lynsday (Dave) Hillier, Justin, David, Shane and Magin.

Predeceased by his sister, Joan.

A private family service will be held.

Beloved husband of Barb Dickinson (née Wilken). 

Dear father of Kerry Lynn (Jason) Tobias, of Sarnia; and Robin (Cory) Dulong, of Goderich.  Cherished grandfather of Owen, Kylie and Nathan. 

Loved brother of Bev McInnes, of Dungannon; Gloria (Harry) Ferrier, of Bervie; Sharon (René) Arsenault, of St. Helens; Linda Fry, of Ripley; Wendy Stockton, of Ajax; Jacqueline (Dave) Vanderbelt, of Oshawa; and Tracy (Keith) Larabie, of Whitby. 

Predeceased by his brother Billy Dickinson and his sister Pat Andress.

IRENE EMMERTON

Irene Gladys Emmerton passed away on Dec. 31, 2011 at the Guelph General Hospital,  in her 95th year.

She leaves to morn two sons: Clifford Emmerton, of Ripley; and Jim Emmerton and his wife Jane, from White Rock, B.C.; as well as two daughters: Elizabeth and her husband John Cruickshank, from Victoria, B.C.; and Eleanor and her husband Jack Findlay, from Guelph, ON; as well as nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband Chester Emmerton in 1999; and by her two sisters Verna Lavoie and Ina Ferrish; and by three brothers Jim, Stanley and Melvin Johnston.

Visitation was held at the Mackenzie and McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2012.

Funeral services were held from the funeral home chapel at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2012. Rev. Rob Hiscox officiated assisted by Eva Wilken. Music was provided by Laurie Dalton and Glenn Boyd.

Burt Elliot, of Ripley and formerly of Owen Sound and Molesworth, passed away at the Kincardine hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2011,  at age 92.

Beloved husband of 68 years to Jean Elliot.

Father of Mary (Paul) Smith, of Peterborough; Joan Wilmer, of Cambridge; Janet (Len) Stilling, of Ripley; John (Laurie) Elliot, of Japan; and Ruth (David) Mullen, of Port Elgin.

Also missed by 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and by sisters Joyce (Bill) Turcotte, of Kitchener; Helen Cullen, of Listowel; and Ina (Morris) Purcell, of Gowanstown; and sisters-in-law Ester Elliott, of Listowel; and Pat Elliott, of Hanover.

David Henry "Harry" Sparks, of Kincardine, died at the Southampton Care Centre on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, in his 92nd year.

Dear father of Paul (Brenda) Sparks, of R. R. #5, Owen Sound; and Rev. Robert Sparks, of Quathiaski Cove, B.C.

Loving grandfather of Angela (Jeremy) Stewart and Timothy (Courtney) Sparks.  Cherished great grandfather of Seth, Jesse and Emma Stewart. 

Predeceased by his wife Mary (née MacKay); his brother Lloyd Sparks; and sisters Gladys Reid and Helen Sparks.

CHARLOTTE HERDE

Charlotte Frieda Herde (née Janke), of Ripley, passed away peacefully on Dec. 5, 2011 at the Kincardine Hospital at the age of 90 years.

Charlotte was born in Germany and immigrated to Canada in 1969.

She was the beloved wife of Helmut Herde.

Dear mother of Dagmar (Manfred) Baasner, and Monika Scheiding. Step-mother of Petra Van der Zander (Herde).

Loved grandmother of Thomas Baasner, Frank Baasner and his wife Paula, Christina Hoffzimmer (Baasner); and great grandmother of Katarina Baasner.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Gerhard Raschke; son Joachim Raschke; her parents, Hermann and Margarete Janke; brother Kurt Janke; and sister Käte Neumann.

Charlotte will be greatly missed by her family, dear friends and neighbours.

Cremation has taken place.
