EDNA McDONALD

Edna McDonald (née Barkwell), of Lucknow, passed away at Pinecrest Manor on Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012,  in her 92nd year.

She was born in Ashfield Township on April 2, 1921 to the late Agnes (MacTavish) and Flaxman Barkwell.

Beloved wife of the late John McDonald.

She will be greatly missed by several cousins and friends.

Predeceased by brother Andrew Barkwell.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Lucknow  on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012, with Rev. Peggy Kinsman officiating.  Pallbearers were: Donnie Brooks, Jim MacTavish, Rob Lowry, Charles Liddle, Jim Black and Jim Dickson.  Debbie Gillies was the flower bearer.

Interment Lochalsh Cemetery.

GEORGE HACKETT

George Hackett, of Kincardine, died at the Kincardine Hospital on Aug. 20, 2012, at the age of 71.

George was the beloved husband of Zita (Redmond) for nearly 44 years.

He was born in Ashfield Township on Nov. 17, 1940 to the late Harry & Lauretta Hackett.

Dear father of Nancy Hackett, of Red Deer, Alberta.

Survived by his brothers: David "D.A." Hackett, and his wife Evelyn; and Alvin Hackett, and his wife Barbara, all of Lucknow. Dear brother-in-law to Angus and Corinne Cline, Blair and Mary Redmond, Ambrose and Barbara Redmond, and Leo and Claudette Redmond; and uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his sister LaVonne, in infancy.

Prior to retirement, George was a long-time employee of John Deere Ltd.

CHARLES BORHO

Charles "Chuck" Leander Borho, of Kincardine, died suddenly at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in his 72nd year.

Beloved husband of the late Sheila Borho (née Reinhart).

Dear father of Nicole (Randy) Nicholson and Renée (Jeff) Renaud, all of Kincardine. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Caitlin (Brad) Johnson, Kimberly and Benjamin Nicholson, and Ryan, Cameron and Aidan Renaud.

Loved brother of Rosemary Beitz, of Palmerston. Sadly missed by two nieces and one nephew. 

Predeceased by his brother Thomas (in infancy) and his brother-in-law, Dave Beitz.

GLADYS CORNISH

Gladys Cornish, formerly of Ripley, died on July 9, 2012 at Pinecrest Manor, Lucknow at the age of 82.

She was the beloved wife of the late James Cornish, who predeceased her in 1998.

Gladys was born on July 16, 1929 in Walkerton to the late Ina (McKinnon) and Norman Hagedorn.

Dear mother of: Brian, of Berkley; Ron & Pat, of Ripley; Nancy & Pierre Lavoie, of Kendal; Joanne & Robert Burt, of Lindsay; Cathy & Clyde McClure, of Blyth; and Shirley Hulley, of Brussels. Missed by her grandchildren: James C., Shannon, Lauren, Daniel, Andrew, Jennifer, Matthew, Christina, and James A., and by her six great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by six siblings.

DOUGLAS LAMB

Douglas Joseph Lamb, of Kincardine and formerly of Brampton, died at London Health Sciences Centre-University Hospital on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, in his 74th year.

He was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the Peel Region Water Department.

Sadly missed by his children Jeff Lamb, Kelly Lamb (Kevin), Steve (Michelle)Lamb as well as their mother Pat Lamb.

Lovingly remembered by his wife Dale Flood and her children Richard, Michel and Denis Clement. Loving grandfather of Laura and Sara Luchak, Tyler and Zachary Lamb. Dear brother of Ron Lamb. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Survived by his brother-in-law Gerry Frecker.

Predeceased by his sister Sharron Frecker, as well as by brothers William and James Lamb.

Rose Mary Lootsma (née Devries) passed away peacefully with her husband by her side at the South Bruce Grey Health-Centre - Kincardine, on Monday, July 9, 2012, in her 57th year.

She was born in Bowmanville in 1956.

Beloved wife of Harvey Lootsma.

Dear mother of Heather (Josh) Vanderlip, of Ripley; and Nicole Lootsma at home. Loved grandma of Easton, Ainsley and Claire.

Cherished daughter of Andrew Devries, of Whitby.

Marjorie Elizabeth Bowman (Greer) died peacefully, with her family at her side, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia, on Tuesday, July 3, 2012.

She was born in Kincardine Township May 29, 1928,

Beloved wife of Clement Willis Bowman.

Loving mother of Elizabeth Ann Bowman, and her husband Peter Cawood; and John Clement Bowman, and his wife Sybille Wunsam. Cherished grandmother to Emma and Ian Cawood, and Philip and Sophie Bowman.

Dear sister-in-law to Marianne Greer and James Bolton. Also survived and loved by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, Laura Zita (neé Cunningham) and Albert Arthur Greer; by her brother, Arthur Ernest Greer; and by her sisters-in-law: Betty Bolton, Joyce and Maurice Dudley.

Carmen Beraro, of Kincardine,  died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine, on Saturday, June 23, 2012, in her 49th year.

Beloved wife of Jack Thompson.

Cherished daughter of Helmut and Edelgard (née Nückel) Beraro.

Loving sister of Frank (Janice) Beraro, of Waterloo; and Stefan (Melissa) Beraro, of Cambridge. Dear aunt of Jacob, Emma, Madison and Andrew. Sadly missed by her step-children Andrea Thompson, Jeremy Michael (Suzanne) Thompson and step-grandson “William” Ronald Thompson-Smith.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street, Kincardine, ON  N2Z 1Z5 (519-396-2701) on Wednesday, June 27,  from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 11a.m., with Rev. Don Harry officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Thompson; Helmut, Frank, Stefan and Andrew Beraro; and Mel Bickford.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

DON GILLESPIE

Don Gillespie, of R.R.1, Holyrood, died on June 16, 2012 at the Wingham Hospital, at the age of 84.

Don was born in West Wawanosh Township on July 4, 1927 to the late Mabel Hodgins and Charles Gillespie.

He was the beloved husband of Marion Gillespie (Nicholson).

Dear father of Ron and Susan Gillespie; and Cathy and Andrew Page, all of Route 1, Holyrood. Missed by his grandchildren: David and Kate Gillespie, Angie Gillespie and Dan Davey, Jamie Page and Tyler Page.

Also survived by his sister Betty (Don) Bushell, of R.R. 2, Holyrood; and by his in-laws, Jim and Isabel Hunter, Donnie Smith, and Ken and Joyce Nicholson.

Predeceased by in-laws Margaret and Lorne Ritchie; Bill Smith; and niece Wanda Hunter.

A memorial service will be held from the Church of Ascension in Kinlough on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at 2:30 p.m. Betty Elliott will officiate.

Nina Jirgens, of Kincardine, died at Pinecrest Manor in Lucknow on Monday, June 11, 2012, in her 93rd year.

Wife of the late Karl Jirgens.

Dear mother of Karl (Lois) Jirgens, of Laurens, Iowa; and Wally (Linda) Jirgens, of Kincardine.  Sadly missed by her grandchildren: Linsey (T.J.) McClure, Danny Jirgens (Sophie) and Charmaine (Minya) Gavrilovic. Loving great grandmother of Morgan McClure, Jesse Jirgens, Chloe and Stefanie Gavrilovic.
