GWYN BROOKING

M. D. Gwyneth Jackson Brooking (née Allender) of Maryhill and formerly of Kincardine passed away at Guelph General Hospital on Thursday, July 28, 2016, after a brief illness, at the age of 73 years.

Predeceased by her first husband Sam Jackson (1988) and her second husband Colin Brooking (2000), and by her parents Bill and Doe Allender.

Loved mother of R. Gene Jackson (Gwen Shuttleworth) of Oshawa and Shannon (Tony) Metz of Elmira. Loving grandmother of Alyssa, Meghan, Keirsten, Joey, and Sam.

Dear sister of Peter (Rosemary), Douglas (Tina), and Ted. Lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews and their families.

Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2016, at the Dreisinger Funeral Home, 62 Arthur St. S., Elmira.

MARY ELLEN O’MALLEY

 

Mary Ellen O’Malley (née McNamara) formerly of Wingham and Teeswater passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels on Sunday, July 17, 2016, at the age of 96.

 

Born in Stratford on Dec. 6, 1919, to the late Joseph and Camilla (née Duggan) McNamara.

 

Beloved wife of the late Charles O’Malley, who predeceased her in 1993.

FRANK GEMMELL

Frank Matthew Gemmell sadly passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Left to mourn are his wife Alison Gemmell (formerly Decker); step-daughter Rachel Decker and her husband Donald Kellar and their twins, Matthew and Grace; step-daughter Kathryn Decker and her husband Michael Malleson and their daughter Nicola; and his Westie dog, Tammy.

 

Also mourned by sister Anne (Ken) Smith; niece Whitney Smith and her husband Justin Ing and their daughter Amelia; sisters-in-law Hilary (Andy) Vavasour and Rosalind (George) Gray and their families.

RON POLLOCK

Ron Pollock of Ripley passed away at the Kincardine Hospital on Friday, June 24, 2016, at age 61.

Greatly missed by Myra, son Mark (Meagan) Pollock of Ripley and granddaughter Mya.

Also survived by his family: Shirley Courtney of London, Geraldine Schlosser of Walkerton, Veronica Fraser of Vernon, B.C., Pat Good of Goderich, Brenda Steffler of Teeswater, Wanda Rolston of Vernon, B.C., Edwin Purvis of Palmerston and Michael Schlosser of Listowel and their families.

Predeceased by Kay Quinn and Darwin Pollock.

Visitation was held at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley on Sunday, June 26, 2016, from 12 noon to 2 p.m. and was immediately followed by a celebration of Ron's life at the Ripley Legion.

Interment Ripley Cemetery.

Donations to the Kincardine Hospital, London Health Sciences Centre or a trust fund for Mya were greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

Beloved wife of the late Donald “Nute” Catto.

 

Cherished mother of Grace (Jim) Surridge of R.R. 2, Kincardine;  Malcolm “Mac” (Elaine) Catto of Fort St. John, B.C.; Lois (Dave) Johnson of Tiverton; and Verna McConnell of Kincardine. Loved grandmother of nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Ernest “Ernie” Evans of Kincardine passed away, with family by his side, at Grey Bruce Health Services - Owen Sound on Thursday, May 19, 2016, at the age of 78.

Beloved husband of Alayne Evans (née Wright). Dear father of Mary-K Hardy (John), Shelley Evans and Angela Evans (Steve Bent). Missed by his granddaughter Quinn Evans. Special Poppa to Jules and Eartha Phorson. Missed by his brothers Jim Evans, Bill Evans (Pat) and Lynn Evans and sister Eueen Emmerton. Fondly remembered by his in-laws Donna Riddick, Kay Small, Judy MacLeod (Eric) and by several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his parents Ernest and Kathleen (née Johnson) Evans, sister Frances Duke (Eugene), brother-in-law Ed Emmerton and sister-in-law Mildred Evans.

A celebration of Ernest’s life will take place at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #183- Kincardine from 2-5 p.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2016, with remembrances at 3 p.m.

Ann Hughes passed away suddenly, peacefully surrounded by family, at Victoria Hospital in London on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, in her 72nd year.

Beloved wife of Greg Naherne. Cherished mother of Stephanie Hughes-Naherne.

Ann will be remembered by her sisters Marg Metzger, Mary (Bob) Moore and Janet (Jim) Mackey as well as by her treasured nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents, Campbell and Patricia Hughes; and brothers-in-law Bob Metzger and Michael Naherne.

Ann was truly one of a kind and will be missed by her countless friends from the different parts of her life. She loved her cats, was active in her Bruce Beach garden and took joy in sharing stories with family and friends from her prodigious memory. She will be missed.

CLAUDETTE WEST-CLARKE

Claudette Sonja May West-Clarke died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loving family and friends, on Thursday, May 12, 2016.

Predeceased by her parents, Claude and Joyce West; and by her brother Laurence.

She is sadly missed by her beloved and doting husband Claude, to whom she was married for almost 44 years, as well as her sisters Patricia, Faith, Carol and Deborah and her brothers Carl, Earl and Bryan.

Claudette was born in the Parish of Saint Andrew on the lovely island of Jamaica. Her family immigrated to Canada in the early 1960s.
