LANCE HAFNER

Lance Joseph Hafner of Toronto passed away suddenly at home on Feb. 26, 2016, at the age of 54.

Predeceased by his parents Shirley (Noble) and Joseph Hafner. He was the stepson of Norma Hafner and friend Keith Bushell of Kincardine.

Dear brother of Sharon of Hamilton and step-brother of David (Jacinda) of Mitchell, Verna-Marie Hafner (Jorin Gibson) of Toronto, and Dan (Sara) of Cambridge. He dearly loved his nephews Xavier, Jarrett, Ben and Ryan.

Lance attended Glendale S.S. and McMaster University in Hamilton. He obtained his LLB from Osgoode Law School in 1984 and an MBA from Western University in 1987. Lance often volunteered at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, area food banks and with other charities.

A private family service was held on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Chapel in Caledonia followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton.

SYLVIA EMMERTON

Sylvia May Emmerton (née Jackson) of Kincardine passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, in her 92nd year.

Beloved wife of the late Stan Emmerton.

Dear mother of Cheryl (Ron) McKee of London. Loved grandmother of Brooke McKee-Bass (Seth Bass) of New Jersey and Carla McKee (Neil Ewart) of London and great-grandmother of Jonah and Noa Bass and Quinn and Jax Ewart.

Predeceased by her sister Edna McLean, brothers-in-law Edwin, Joseph, Gordon, Allan and Herbert Emmerton and sisters-in-law Frances Walsh, Elizabeth Geddes, Edna Wilken and Annie Maurer.

Visitation was held from 1-2 p.m. at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine, on Friday, March 4, 2016. The funeral service was held in the chapel at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Rob Hiscox officiating.

WILBUR CAMPBELL

Harold “Wilbur” Campbell of Kincardine passed away at Trillium Court in Kincardine on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016, in his 87th year.

Beloved husband of Jean Campbell (née Milne) of Kincardine.

Loving father of Marion Neumann (Rob) of Alberta, Carol Blake (Mike) of Armow, Ruth Ball (Graham) of R. R. #5, Kincardine, Loran Campbell (Anabel) of Armow and Anne Ohlmann (Ron) of Alberta.

Missed by his grandchildren: Nia Neumann, Andrea Neumann, Alex Neumann, Caleb Blake (Erin), Jedidiah Blake, Garrett Campbell, Carson Campbell, Makayla Ohlmann and Max Ohlmann and his great-grandson Casheous Blake.

Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Dean Campbell, Mary Young, Marjorie Young, and Edna Park and brothers-in-law David Young (Myrna), Gordon Young (Clare) and Ian Milne (Clare) and by several nieces and nephews.

Charles Michael “Mike” McKitterick of Kincardine passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine, on Thursday, February 11, 2016, in his 82nd year.

Beloved husband of Suzanne McKitterick (née Pettit). Dear father of Mary Jane of Toronto, Rob of London and John of Kincardine. Cherished grandfather of Daniella, Jacob and Charlie. Loved brother of Patrick (Heljo) McKitterick of Brampton. Missed by brothers-in-law Claude (Anne) Pettit of Owen Sound, Alex (Bernice) Pettit of Sarnia, Derek (Janet) Pettit of Mooretown, sister-in-law Wendy (Norm) Vent of Port Hope, cousins Nancy (Carl) Edwards of Livonia, Michigan and Jerry (Marguerite) Kendall of Westland, Michigan. Also missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Gordon and Audrey (Leef) McKitterick.

CHARLIE LEMON

Charles "Charlie" Norman Lemon of Kincardine and formerly of Kincardine Township passed away at Trillium Court on Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, in his 89th year. 

Beloved husband of Shirley Lemon (née Hewitt).

Dear father of Pat (Dennis) Newman, of R.R. #2, Kincardine; Peggy (Richard) Pawlikowski, of Kincardine; and Randy (Cathy) Lemon, of R.R. #2, Kincardine.

Cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Survived by his sister-in-law Eileen Lemon, of Exeter, and his brother-in-law Clifford Hewitt, of Owen Sound.

Predeceased by his brothers Lawrence, Bob and Doug Lemon and by his sisters Jean Bruner, Winnie McKee, Bette Hartwick and Mary Ann Baker.

Douglas "Doug" Victor Kidd of R. R. 2, Tiverton passed away suddenly at his home on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at the age of 57.

Beloved husband of Betty Teat of R. R. 2, Tiverton.

Loving father of Daniel Kidd and his wife Alicia of Paisley, Carie Ferris and her husband Rick, and Kelly Becker and her husband Jeff, all of Port Elgin. Special grandpa of Blaze Kidd, Morgan and Kira Ferris, and Lena and Dylan Becker.

Cherished son of John Kidd (Elaine Winter) of R. R. 2, Tiverton.

Dear brother of David Kidd (Wendy Wilson) of Paisley; Dennis Kidd (Monica) of R. R. 2, Tiverton; Darlene Carson (Roger), Debbie Kidd (Chris Milne) and Diane Vanhaelemeesch (Jerry), all of Port Elgin; and Duncan Kidd (Megan) of Southampton.

Doug will be fondly remembered by his many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends.

IVAN EMMERTON

Ivan Emmerton died peacefully at the Deep River & District Hospital on Jan. 23, 2016, in his 76th year.

Predeceased by his wife of more than 50 years, Claire (Brisebois).

He will be sorely missed by his daughter Brenda Crowder (Randy) of Cornwall, sons Brian (Mary) of Bolton and Bruce of Kingston. Treasured poppa and grandpa to Jed Crowder (Angela) of Ottawa, and Nicole and Kayla Emmerton of Bolton.

Beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his sister Doris Rock and brother Lorne.

Ivan was born in Kincardine to Charles and Olive Emmerton. He moved to Deep River after attending Ryerson Polytechnic Institute to begin a distinguished career as a research technologist at Atomic Energy in Chalk River.

ELMER COURTNEY

Elmer Courtney of Ripley died on Jan. 13, 2016, at the Kincardine Hospital in his 89th year.

He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Elliott) for more than 65 years. Elmer was the only child born to his late parents Mary MacLennan and Harold Courtney on Dec. 18, 1927, in Kincardine, Ontario. Dear father of Lynn and Freda of RR2, Ripley, Gail and Brian Johnson of Kincardine, Carmon and Bernice of RR 2, Ripley and Joan and Mike Petersen of Edmonton. Survived by his daughter-in-law Carol and son-in-law Rodger Ludwig. Missed by his 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his son Elliott (2010) and daughter Ann Ludwig (2013).

Over the years Elmer farmed and ran a farm machinery business in the area and enjoyed many hours coaching minor sports and later being a spectator.

ROBERT ABRA

Robert (Bob) John Abra took his last flight Jan. 3, 2016, age 85 years.

Resident of Cedarcroft Place Retirement Residence, Stratford, Ontario and formerly from Kincardine, Ontario. Born in Owen Sound, son of the late Frank and Violet (Briggs) Epplett. Retired after 30 years of service as staff sergeant and helicopter pilot with the Ontario Provincial Police. Robert served in the RCAF in Summerside, PEI, where he met the love of his life Marion Morrison, who predeceased him in 2013. Robert will be remembered by his sister Pat Bolton (Lorne) and his brother Rick Epplett (Lynne) and nieces and nephews, Dana Koperski (John), Rob Bolton (Tracey), Lisa (Dean) and Katie (Andrew).

WESLEY GIESZ

Wesley “Wes” Rosswell Giesz of Kincardine passed away at South Bruce Grey Health Centre, Kincardine, on Monday, Dec. 28, 2015, in his 97th year.

Missed by his good friends Gordon and Mary McGarvey. Predeceased by his brothers Percy Giesz and Maurice (Gladys) Giesz. He will be missed by many cousins and close friends.

A memorial service will take place at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Don Harry, officiating. Spring interment, Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin. Memorial donations to Kincardine Hospital Foundation or the Kincardine United Church would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
