MARY BRYCE

Mary Elizabeth Anne Bryce passed away peacefully, with family at her side, on Monday, Dec. 1, 2009, at the Bracebridge General Hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer.

 

Mary was born in Montreal on Nov. 16, 1943 to the late Llewellyn Johns and Elaine (Cantelon) Johns.

Beloved wife of David Bryce, of Gravenhurst.

 

Loving mother of Stephanie (Tim) Donavan, of Las Vegas; and Wendy (Chad) Courtland, of Los Angeles; and dear grandmother of Grace Courtland.

 

She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and is fondly remembered by former spouse, Stephen Phillips, of Kincardine.

 

Mary taught high school mathematics in Ottawa, Walkerton, Ripley, Kincardine, Port Elgin and Toronto.

 

Mary’s love of life was her family, gardening, travelling and playing and teaching bridge.

 

At Mary’s request, cremation has taken place.

 

A celebration of life and spreading of ashes will take place next spring.

 

CALOMENA CROMWELL

Calomena Vera Cromwell (née MacDonald), of Kincardine, died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, in her 85th year. 

Beloved wife of Ashley Cromwell. 

Dear mother of Taylor Lownds (Michelle Panoulias), of Kincardine. Grandmother of Elizabeth Lownds. 

Loved sister of Joe (Dawn) MacDonald, of Kincardine. Also sadly missed by her nieces and nephews.   

Predeceased by many brothers and sisters.

MERLE FARRELL

Merle Irene Farrell (née Walpole), of Kincardine, died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Monday, Dec.14, 2009, in her 89th year. 

Beloved wife of the late Wilson Farrell.

 

Dear mother of Kenneth (Glenna) Farrell, of Huron Township; Ronald (Marilyn) Farrell, of Walkerton; and Roger (Gail) Farrell, of Huron Township. Loved grandmother of Todd (Stephanie) Farrell, Lisa (Ryan) Eyre, Liane (Justin) Greco, Paulette (Kevin) McTeer, David (Julie) Farrell, Amy (Dwight) Irwin, Janine Farrell (Curtis Donaldson), and Greg Farrell (Robyn Thompson); and great-grandmother of Geordie and Josh Farrell, Jack Eyre, Layne Irwin and Scott and Nicolas McTeer. 

Cherished sister of Carman Walpole, of London. Also survived by sisters-in-law Gladys Walpole, of Kincardine; June Elliott, of Ripley; and Marion McLeod, of Kincardine.

Predeceased by her sisters: Phyllis (Sheldon) Baker, Evelyn (Wesley) Irwine and Sylvia (Dan) Kennedy; by brothers Eldon and Glenn Walpole; and by sister-in-law, Mary Walpole. 

Merle was born in Kincardine Township on Oct. 29, 1921, to the late Margaret (Campbell) and Franklin Walpole. Following her marriage to Wilson Farrell on May 10, 1941, they farmed in Huron Township where they raised their family. In 1979 they retired to Kincardine. Merle loved spending time with her family and enjoyed visiting with her many friends. Merle was a member of the Kincardine United Church and the North Unit UCW; she greatly valued her association with these ladies and had hosted them in her apartment at Trillium Court on Dec. 8.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., where the funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Dec.17, 2009, with Rev. Don Harry officiating.

Pallbearers were: Kenneth, Ronald, Roger, Todd, David and Greg Farrell.

Flower bearers were: Lisa Eyre, Liane Greco, Stephanie Farrell, Paulette McTeer, Julie Farrell, Amy Irwin, Janie Farrell, Geordie Farrell, Josh Farrell and Scott McTeer.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery
