The Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce 2019 Community Achievement Awards were held on Sat. March 2 at Ainsdale Golf Club. Forty-two nominees in 14 categories were recognized at the sold-out event that included speeches from local dignitaries and dinner.  As each award was presented, a description of all nominees in the category was read before the winner was announced.  Shawna Small, owner of InStyle Hair Studio, won the Superheat FGH Business Person of the Year Award. She thanked the Chamber, as well as her family, friends and team at InStyle.
"When I won the award I started thinking what else can I do. I have so much to give and to be recognized for the things that I already do and love is amazing," said Small. "It inspires me to do more. Where else can I take this? I'm excited to see what the future holds for InStyle and myself."
Before the awards were presented, Erin MacDonald offered a moving and heartfelt tribute and a moment of silence to Troy Snobelen, who died in an accident in February 2019. Snobelen’s family was in attendance and thanked the community for its ongoing support and condolences.
