More than 60 Kincardine Legion members and guests gathered on Jan. 1 to take part in the annual Legion New Year's Levee.

The levee, held at the MacDonald 183 branch, invites the public to join Legion members to usher in the new year. President Jim McDonald addressed the group and listed some of the many accomplishments of the Kincardine branch, including the success of the Catch the Ace lottery and donations made to many non-profit groups and charities, both locally and Canada-wide. District C Commander Lynn McClellan was on hand to take part in the festivities and said that the Kincardine branch is a model branch for all branches to follow.

Municipality of Kincardine Deputy Mayor Marie Wilson, representing Mayor Anne Eadie, and Bluewater School Board chairperson Jan Johnstone also spoke, thanking the Legion for its support of the community and updating the crowd on issues including the upcoming budget, building a new high school and gas service coming to the municipality.

At 1 p.m., glasses were raised in a toast to fallen soldiers, the Queen and the Kincardine community for its ongoing support. After the toasts, guests were invited to take part in a community meal that was available for a donation.
