Bulldogs suffer two losses on the road



The Kincardine Bulldogs lost a couple road games in Mitchell over the weekend.


On Friday night they outshot the Hawks 22-4 in the first period, but only came away with a 1-0 lead. Hunter Robins-Gibbons scored on the power play with Blake Buchanan and Brent West assisting. Good goaltending at both ends kept the second period scoreless.


Mitchell scored two goals early in the third period to take a 2-1 lead. Jerrid Fossold tied the game with six minutes left in the third period, but Mitchell scored a power play goal with a couple minutes left in the game to make it a 3-2 final in favour of the Hawks. Craig Luinstra stopped 24 of 27 shots in net for the Bulldogs.


On Sunday afternoon, the Bulldogs lost 5-4 in overtime to Mitchell. West opened the scoring on the power play with Jesse Carnahan and Tyler Sutter assisting. Mitchell tied it up early in the second period. Jordan Caskenette made it 2-1 on the power play, with Logan Freiburger and Logan Swanton assisting.


Mitchell scored the next three to take a 4-2 lead early in the third period. Mike Fiegehen saved the day with two third period goals to tie the game 4-4. Ethan Long assisted on both goals Robins-Gibbons and Kent Ribey added one assist each. Mitchell dominated overtime out shooting the Bulldogs 6-1 and scoring five minutes in. Jakob Adams took the loss in net stopping 25 out of 30 shots.


The Bulldogs host the Walkerton Hawks on Saturday night at 7:25 p.m. and play in Goderich on Sunday afternoon.
