Bulldogs sweep series with Goderich

The Kincardine Bulldogs have swept the first round of division playoffs in Provincial Junior Hockey Leagueaction, defeating Goderich four games straight.

 

The first three games were shutouts for Kincardine, but the team had to work hard for Friday night’s victory at the Maitland Recreation Centre. Ethan Primeau was in net for the Bulldogs.

 

Goderich got on the scoreboard first, with a power play goal by Ben Derrough from Brad Watson and Mitch Fisher. Kincardine’s Justin Marlowe replied with a goal assisted by Robert White.

 

In the second period, penalties cost each team a goal – Kincardine made it 2-1 on a power play goal by Jordan Caskenette from Logan Swanton and Mike Fiegehen, and Goderich tied it up with another power play goal, Brody Tenpas from Derrough and Morgan Benniwies.

 

Logan Freiburger scored the winning goal for the Bulldogs at the 12:04 mark in the third period, on assists from Caskenette and Fiegehen.

 

The win puts Kincardine into the next round of divisional playoffs. Details weren’t available at press time.
