Marlene Ruth Campbell, age 79, passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017.

Marlene was born in Kincardine Township on June 14, 1938, to parents Wilfred and Marjorie Campbell (née Neil).

She is lovingly survived by her husband Donald Campbell of Kincardine, formerly of Tiverton and Inverhuron; daughter Susan and her husband Jim MacGregor of Langley, B.C.; her sons Jamie and his wife Corinna of Milton and Scott and his wife Elizabeth of Port Elgin.

She will be greatly missed by her five grandchildren Madison, Jack, Seth, Ethan and Colin; her brother-in-law Norman Campbell as well as by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by her parents Wilfred and Marjorie Campbell of Tiverton, her in-laws Howard and Minnie Campbell, sister-in-law Jean Campbell, and brother-in-law Jim Campbell.

After attending Teacher’s College in Stratford for two years, Marlene’s teaching career started in Neustadt. After two years there, she returned to Bruce County where she taught for another 25 years. Marlene’s patience and desire to encourage her students during her tenure as a teacher resulted in many of them paying their respects back to her years later.

Family was Marlene’s greatest passion. She was a devoted wife for 58 years, mother and grandmother and a friend to so many. As a servant leader, Marlene was always doing for others. She enjoyed camping, was an avid card player and sports fan, and made many trips across Canada to both the East and West coasts. Marlene was a former member of the Tiverton Eastern Star, a member of the Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church, a Director of the Tiverton Agricultural Society for 20 years, a Committee Chair of the Bruce County Heritage Association for 10 years, and a long-time member of the Bruce Township Historical Society.

The funeral service was held on Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017, at Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church with Rev. Jeanette Fleischer and Rev. David Chang officiating. Eulogies in her memory were given by her daughter Susan MacGregor and niece Debbie Prior. Serving as pallbearers were Edgar Pilgrim, Terry Neil, Gordon Brown, Wayne Schwandt, John N. McKay and Bruce Eskrick. The flower bearers were Madison Campbell, Seth and Ethan Campbell, and Colin Campbell.

Memorial donations to Tiverton Knox Presbyterian Church or the Kincardine Hospital would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
