Kincardine hosts CWOSSA girls’ basketball championship

Kincardine played host to the Central Western Ontario Secondary Schools Association girls’ A basketball championship Nov. 17 and 18.
There were four senior teams and six juniors. Games were played at Kincardine District Secondary School and in Walkerton.
Woodland Christian High School took home the senior championship and moves on to compete for the provincial title in Timmins. The junior championship was won by Wellington Heights Secondary School, defeating Walkerton 33-30 in the final on Saturday.
The Kincardine juniors didn’t fare well at the event, losing 35-32 to Rockway MC in game one and Delhi DSS 47-26 in game two.
The Kincardine seniors, buoyed up by cheers from fellow students, defeated a strong Wellington Heights squad 42-24 in their first game, but lost by a heart-breaking single point 44-43 to Woodland in the championship game Friday night.
