Vehicle dealership moving into Bruce Bowling Lanes location

A new used vehicle and rental dealership is opening in Kincardine.

Pat Barnes, owner if the Goderich Toyota dealership, has purchased the Bruce Bowling Lanes property and will open the new business in a couple of weeks.

“We’ll be offering lightly used vehicles – mainly Toyota, with a mix of other vehicles – as well as new Hondas and a fleet of rental vehicles,” Barnes told The Independent on Monday.

The bowling alley location on Broadway is an ideal location because of its large parking lot. Barnes said he had not determined what he will do with the building as of yet. He had looked into the possibility of continuing to operate the bowling lanes, but said there simply is not a business case for it.

“Bowling is dying,” he said, “and we didn’t buy it to run a bowling alley.”

Barnes said there is potential to rent out the space for events, but at the present time he is focusing on renovating the building for his business. He has employees in place to operate the dealership and rental business and will be hiring a rental clerk.

“We’re getting geared up,” he said.
