JOAN BROOKS (Sept. 24, 1946 – Aug. 8, 2017)

It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Lorraine Brooks announces her peaceful passing on Aug 8, 2017.

She will be lovingly remembered by her sons Jeff (Tracy) and Paul (Susan); grandchildren Kris, Kayla, Aly, Nathan and Lindsey; her brother Terry; as well as many special nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

Joan was predeceased by her husband, James Wesley Brooks; two brothers, Gordon and Harold Hyde; and sister-in-law Carol Hyde.

Visitation was held on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, from 6-8 p.m. at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, Alberta T8B 1B8. The funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2017, at Glenwood Funeral Home.

GORDON MOOGK

Gordon Moogk passed away peacefully in Kincardine on Aug. 8, 2017, at the age of 87.

Proud father of Doug (Grace) of Waterloo, Danny (Marianne) of Ingersoll and Mike (Rob) of Kitchener.

Loving grandfather of Jeffrey (Kathy), Kevin (Amanda), Duane (Katie), Jennifer (Michel) Lajoie and Jason (Aine). Great-grandfather of Owen, Aiden, Max, Ava, Gus, Lou, Logan, Chantelle, Chelsea and Gavin.

Remembered by his sisters Helen (Frank) Elfert of Vancouver and Elsie Lawson of Mississauga and sister-in-law Marion Rohr of Waterloo.

Predeceased by his parents Frank and Elsie Moogk, his brother David and brothers-in-law Bruce Lawson and Ken Rohr.

Gord was a dedicated amateur radio operator for nearly 70 years. He was past-president of the K-W Amateur Radio Club and RAC Assistant Director Southern Ontario. Gord was proud of the fact that as an amateur radio operator he made contact with people in over 280 countries as well as the Mir space station. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman throughout his life. Gord grew up and raised his family in Waterloo before retiring to Point Clark 29 years ago. Special thanks to service providers from CCAC, his thoughtful friends and caring neighbours and a special thank you to Dr. Lisa Roth for her compassionate care and friendship.

Cremation has taken place.

A private family interment will take place at a future date in Point Clark.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 1 – 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, 2017, at the Point Clark Community Centre, 344 Lake Range Drive, Point Clark.

JOHN SHEPHERD (WWII)

John Alexander Shepherd of Kincardine passed away, with family by his side, at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, in his 93rd year.

Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Shepherd (née Remy), who predeceased him on April 17, 2011.

Loving father of Dianne Van derWal (Bill) of Abbotsford, B.C.; Barbara Knott (Denny) of Lucan; Karen Winter of Gananoque; Bonnie Kraemer (Larry) of R.R. #2, Kincardine; Garry Shepherd of R.R. #1, Kincardine; Bev Shepherd of R.R. #2, Kincardine; and Ruth Robbins-Wall (Andrew Wall) of Cambridge.

Sadly missed by his 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.

Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his son Morley Shepherd, parents Edward and Minnie (née Falconer) Shepherd, brothers Edward, Roger, Bill and George and sisters Myrtle Banter, Mary Rose, Charity Lewis and Cora Oak. John was the last surviving member of his family.

Visitation was held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017, at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from where the funeral service to celebrate John’s life was held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017, with Pastor Kenneth Craig officiating.

The Royal Canadian Legion - Kincardine Branch 183 held a memorial service at the funeral home at noon on Monday, Aug. 14, 2017.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

CAROLYN SHEWFELT

Carolyn Shewfelt of Kincardine passed away peacefully at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Monday, Aug. 7, 2017, in her 73rd year.

Cherished wife of Lynn Shewfelt of Kincardine.

Dear mother of Laurie (Scott) Starra of Kitchener, Brad (Jessica) Knechtel of London; stepmom of Jay Shewfelt of Windsor, Janette (Derick) McGee of Orillia and Jill Shewfelt (Matt Bennett) of Whistler, B.C. Beloved “Nana” of Chloe, Meg, Ariel, Lola and Sailor.

Missed by sister Joyce (Dave) Walsh of Kincardine, brothers-in-law Gord Appleton of Port Dover, Wayne (Carol) Shewfelt of Tavistock and Blayne (Patsy) Shewfelt of Kincardine. Also missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Predeceased by her parents Carl and Gladys Funston and by her sister Barbara Appleton.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2017. The funeral service was held at Pine River United Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, 2017, with Rev. Vicki Johnson officiating.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.
