Three-game weekend cut short for Cubs

What was supposed to be a busy weekend for the Kincardine Cubs turned out to be not so busy after all.

Kincardine was scheduled to play three Midwestern Ontario Senior Baseball League games on the weekend, but ended up just playing a lone Friday night game in Mitchell.

In a game that kept the Cubbies with a share of first place overall in the MOSBL, Kincardine hammered the Mitchell Astros 15-3 Friday night in Mitchell.

Kincardine was then supposed to be in Komoka Sunday afternoon to take on the London Area Angels and then travel to London later in the day to face the St. Thomas Cardinals.

However, neither one of those games happened. The Angels forfeited their game against Kincardine, which will go in the books as a 9-0 win for the Cubs. The second game of the day, against the Cardinals, was postponed and will be replayed this weekend in Kincardine.

With the two victories, the Cubs are now 11-1 in league play. They share top spot in the standings with Listowel (11-2).

The Cardinals will be at Connaught Park this Sunday for double-header action against the Cubs. The first game will begin at 1 p.m., with the second contest scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m. on Tout Field.
