MABEL BLAKE

Mabel Annie Blake (née Smiley) of Kincardine and formerly of Mattawa passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine, on Saturday, June 24, 2017, in her 94th year.

 

Beloved wife of the late Frank Blake and mother of the late Theresa Walicki.

 

Cherished mother of Harriette (Bernard) Cavan, Pauline (Richard) Held and Loretta Guay, all of Ottawa; Joan (Randy) Hafermehl, of Elmwood; Robert (Lois) Blake and Michael (Carol) Blake, all of Kincardine.

 

Loved by 17 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

 

Also missed by many nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends.

 

Predeceased by her brother Donald Smiley, son-in-law Brian Guay and great-granddaughter MaKenzie Roberts.

 

Visitation will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 10 a.m. until 12 p.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, with a funeral mass to follow at 12:30 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 749 Russell Street, Kincardine, with Father Thomas Manninezhath officiating.

LORINNE DAVIS

 

Marion “Lorinne” Davis (née Angus) of Kincardine passed away at the Wingham & District Hospital on Tuesday, June 20, 2017, in her 93rd year.

 

Beloved wife of the late Donal “Don” Davis, who predeceased her on March 27, 2006.

 

Loving mother of Donna Lockwood (Bob) and Jeff Davis, all of Kincardine.

 

Missed by her granddaughters Erica McKeag (Travis) of Kincardine and Allison Baumhour (Shane) of Barrie, and by great-grandchildren Matthew and Ryann McKeag and Briar Baumhour.

 

Fondly remembered by her sister-in-law Velma Angus of Markdale and by several nieces and nephews.

 

Predeceased by her parents Gordon and Alice (née Ferguson) Angus, brother James Angus and sister-in-law Betty House.

 

Visitation was held from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 25, 2017, at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine, from where the memorial service to celebrate Lorinne’s life was conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017, with Reverend Kathy Fraser officiating.

 

Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.

FRASER DOWNEY

James “Fraser” Downey, a resident of Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home in Lucknow and formerly of Bruce Township, passed away at the Wingham & District Hospital on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the age of 76.

 

Beloved son of the late George and Hilda (née Fairbairn) Downey.

 

Dear brother of Janet Robertson (Garry) of Cambridge.

 

Missed by his aunt Violet Fairbairn and cousins Wayne Mewhinney, Edith McMyler and Ken Fairbairn (Johanna).

 

Fondly remembered by dear friends Ivan Smith and Lori Mortimer and by the staff and residents of Pinecrest Manor.

 

A memorial service to celebrate Fraser’s life will be held at 11 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church in Tiverton on Friday, June 30, 2017, with Reverend David Chang officiating.

 

Final resting place: Tiverton Cemetery.

JEAN HAMMOND

 

Emma “Jean” Hammond of Kincardine passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine on Wednesday, June 21, 2017, in her 87th year.

 

Jean was born in Bruce Township to the late Arnold and Lyda (née Abbs) Hammond.

 

She attended elementary school in the township and completed high school in Paisley.  She then enrolled at Owen Sound Business College in the accounting program.

 

Jean’s early employment included the Circle Bar and Tom Phair’s. She finished her career with Bruce Municipal Telephone, where she was employed for a number of years.

 

Jean was a wonderful hostess and along with her sister Marian enjoyed entertaining.  Jean loved a good joke and took pleasure in singing.

 

Missed by sister-in-law of Helen Hammond of Port Elgin and several cousins.

 

Predeceased by her brothers George and Wallace, sister Marian and sister-in-law Jean.

 

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, June 23, 2017, followed by the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. with Pastor Brian Martin and Pastor Bonnie Mair officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Kenneth Craig, Jim Convay, Graham Ball, Ron Abbs, Glen Cowan and Jack Janzen.

 

Final resting place: Sanctuary Park Cemetery, Port Elgin.
