The Buckland Cup will be handed out tonight (Wednesday) one way or another.

The Trenton Golden Hawks and the Georgetown Raiders will play a one-game showdown to determine the best team in the Ontario Junior Hockey League.

Kincardine's Ben Scheel plays for Trenton. Scheel has a goal and three assists in 14 playoff games for the Golden Hawks.

A seventh and final game became necessary as the teams split weekend contests. This series has gone back and forth. Trenton took Game 4 of the series 2-1 in overtime Thursday and Game 5 Friday night 5-2 on the road. The Golden Hawks had a chance to wrap things up on home ice Sunday, but were blanked 5-0 by the Raiders.

These teams were the best two teams all season long in the OJHL, finishing first and second overall. It is also a rematch of last year's Buckland Cup final, which was won by Trenton. Last year, Trenton had home ice advantage. This year, Georgetown will host Game 7 tonight at Alcott Arena at 7:30 p.m.

Regardless of which team wins tonight, both will play in the Dudley Hewitt Cup, the Central Canada Junior A championship tournament. Trenton is hosting this year's Dudley Cup and is the defending champion. The Dudley Cup will begin May 2. The Soo Thunderbirds from the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League have qualified and will join Trenton and Georgetown. The best team from the Superior International Junior Hockey League, which has yet to be determined, also gets a spot in the tournament.
