Lots to celebrate

This year there is reason to celebrate Willa Schoffer’s musical talent and her contributions to our community. She will be having her 85th birthday; who would ever know with her zest for life, sly sense of humour, attractive manner and her strong will, stamina and determination.

This year also marks her 40th year of conducting choir in Kincardine. The Church of the Messiah was lucky to have her as its choir director for 21 years while she taught private voice and piano lessons in the community. She sang as a member of choirs in Port Elgin, Durham and Goderich and was a soloist for five years in the Royal Bank Senior Jubilee Concerts at Roy Thompson Hall.

She formed the Kincardine Community Singers and directed it for 15 years then formed the Celebration Singers which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.

She was also president of the Kincardine Skating Club and spent two terms on the Bruce County School Board.

Life is a celebration, and this year we will celebrate Willa Schoffer, recipient of the MPP’s Remarkable Citizens Award. Congratulations!
