BILL HALBERT

William Arthur “Bill” Halbert of Kincardine passed away at Grey Bruce Health Services - Owen Sound on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, in his 68th year.

Beloved husband of Anne Halbert (née Smith).

Dear father of Mary Halbert of Southampton, Kerry (Mike) Maus of Barrie, Ian (Andrea) Trumble of Kincardine and Jean (Travis) Breton of Point Clark. Missed by his grandchildren Kelsey and Darcy.

Fondly remembered by his sister Susan (Grant) Hunter of Barrie, brother Larry (Judy) Halbert of Barrie, sisters-in-law Peggy (Steve) Wilson of West Vancouver and Cathie (Kaz) Orlanski of Oakville and brother-in-law Doug (Robin) Irvin of Edmonton. Also missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Geraldine (née Gotreau) Halbert.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m.  at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street, Kincardine on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2016.  The memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held in the chapel at 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21, 2016, with Pastor Judy Zarubick officiating.

Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.

JEAN HARRISON

Florence Irene “Jean” Harrison of Kincardine passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016, in her 82nd year.

Beloved wife of the late Eugene Harrison, who predeceased her on Feb. 27, 2016.

Dear mother of Joanne Prokop of St. Catharines, Karen (Roland) Egilson of Penticton, B.C., and Dale (Annie) Harrison of Kerrville, Texas. Loved grandma of Zach Prokop and Chelan Egilson.

Survived by her siblings: Mary Ann (Gerald) Kemple of Riversdale, Helen (Joe) Brick of St. Clements, Donny (Joan) Lamont and Allan (Wendy) Lamont, all of Riversdale and by several nieces and nephews.

Also survived by in-laws: Tess Harrison of Dorchester and Clifford Buckingham of Kincardine.

Predeceased by her parents, Neil and Isa (née Leeson) Lamont; sisters Grace (Jerry) Spicer, Dorothy (Wally) Forsyth and Liz (Gordie) Spark; and in-laws Roy (Edna) Harrison, Jack (Hilda) Harrison, Bill (Peg) Harrison, Lorne (Norma) Harrison, Marg (Charlie) Merritt and Helen Buckingham.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, and from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Jim Weir officiating. Pallbearers were Jim Harrison, Jeff Harrison, Terry Kemper, Kevin Stewart, Derrick Burrows and Evan Wise.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

NORMA HOOVER

 

Norma Ethelwyn Hoover (née Young) passed peacefully at her residence at Trillium Court in Kincardine, on Nov. 4, 2016.

 

Born on Aug. 3, 1916, in the Young home on the banks of the Grand River, she was one of six children born to Harry and Winnie (née Martindale) Young. She celebrated her 100th birthday this past August surrounded by family, "getting the whole gang together" as she liked to say.

 

Beloved wife of the late Wesley Hoover (1988).

 

Dear mother of Doug Hoover (Cheryl) of Vancouver.

 

Missed by her grandsons: Randy Hoover (Darlene) of Glencoe, Chris Hoover (Diane) of Ilderton, Grant Hoover (Ann) of Kincardine, Mathew Hoover of Vancouver and Joe Hoover (Emma) of Calgary and by great-grandchildren Lindsey, Samantha, Andrew, Ryan, Dylan and Evan.

 

Also survived by her sister Rita Hewitt (Leonard) and in-laws Shirley Young, Bob Hoover (Charlotte) and Albert Hoover (Donna).

 

Predeceased by her son Kenneth Hoover and his wife Shirley (née Flowers), brothers Oliver Young (Marjorie), Kenneth Young (Vicky) and Jack Young, sister Dorothy Shannon (Ted) and sister-in-law Frances Docherty.

 

A funeral service to celebrate Norma’s life will be held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street, Kincardine at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016, followed by visitation until 9 p.m.

Transfer will be made to Miller Funeral Home in Caledonia where visitation will be held from 12- 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016, followed by the interment at Caledonia Cemetery.

 

Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

 

GERARD LACHLAN

Gerard Anthony Lachlan of Kincardine passed away peacefully at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre - Kincardine on Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2016, in his 85th year.

 

Husband of Mary Lachlan (née Kane).

 

Dear father of Sharon Lachlan and Grant Lachlan and his wife Deanna, all of Kincardine.

 

Missed by his grandchildren: Corey Lachlan (Sherri) of Fergus, Kane Lachlan (Claudia) of London and Brittney Lachlan of Kingston and by great-grandchildren Tye, Brett, Alex and Ryan.

 

Also survived by his brother Alan Lachlan (Margaret) of Connecticut.

 

Predeceased by his parents, James and Catherine (née Carney) Lachlan; and sister Jean Tomney (Gord).

 

A memorial service to celebrate Gerry’s life was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, 757 Princes Street, Kincardine at 2 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, with Ann Maycock officiating.

 

Final resting place: Kincardine Cemetery.

FRITZ WILLIAM LARSEN

Fritz William Larsen of Kincardine passed away at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre- Kincardine, on Nov. 9, 2016, in his 84th year.

Much loved partner and best friend of Peps Lorentzen for 32 years.

Cherished father of Heidi (Peter) Munro of Durham and Anita (Paul Pearce) Surridge of Kincardine. Loved grandfather of Toben (Jinny), Nikolai, Canaan (Martine), Aeris, Leander (Katrina) and Kristen (Jeremy) and great-grandfather of Erik and Rylan.

Dear brother of Reidun Swan and also missed by numerous family members in Norway.

Rest in peace, Fritz, in a better place with no more pain and suffering and with all those wonderful Larsens who have passed before you, especially wife Anne (1983) and son Erik (1997).

A special thank you to all the wonderful doctors and nurses who looked after Fritz in his final days in Owen Sound and Kincardine.

A private graveside service will take place.

Please join the family for a public celebration of Fritz’s life at the Royal Canadian Legion – Kincardine Branch183, Lambton Street, Kincardine from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016.

EDWIN SHEWFELT

Reuben Edwin “Ed” Shewfelt, of Brampton and Kincardine, passed away at his home in Brampton on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2016, in his 82nd year.

Beloved husband of Shirley Shewfelt (née Hall).

Dear father of Dale Shewfelt and his wife Janice of Keswick, Donnie Shewfelt and his wife Kate of Caledon and Deanna Shewfelt of Owen Sound.

Missed by his grandchildren Devon (Michelle), Cory, Jesse, Jake, Victoria, Randi and Vaughn.

Predeceased by his parents, Reuben and Margreta (née Richardson) Shewfelt.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016, and from 12-1 p.m. on Thursday, Nov.10, 2016, followed by the funeral service in the chapel at 1:30 p.m., with Pastor Ken Craig officiating. Granddaughter Victoria carried a floral tribute. Ed’s grandsons Devon, Cory, Jesse, Jake, Randi and Vaughn were the pallbearers.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.
