Several charges after traffic stop

A 29-year-old man is facing numerous charges after an incident on Harbour Street in Kincardine on Sept. 18.

Just after 6 p.m., a South-Bruce OPP officer on patrol stopped a silver Nissan Murano. The officer found the driver didn’t have a licence. Additionally, the vehicle plates were improper.

At this point, the man ran from police. However, he was arrested without incident following a short foot chase. A quantity of illicit street drugs and stolen property was discovered inside the vehicle.

The Carrick Twp. man was charged with three counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possessing property obtained by crime, driving while disqualified, taking a motor vehicle without consent, obstruction of a peace officer, driving with no validated permit, failure to have insurance card and using unauthorized plates. He was held in custody pending the results of a bail hearing scheduled for Sept. 19.
