FRANK GEMMELL

Frank Matthew Gemmell sadly passed away on Sunday, June 12, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Left to mourn are his wife Alison Gemmell (formerly Decker); step-daughter Rachel Decker and her husband Donald Kellar and their twins, Matthew and Grace; step-daughter Kathryn Decker and her husband Michael Malleson and their daughter Nicola; and his Westie dog, Tammy.

 

Also mourned by sister Anne (Ken) Smith; niece Whitney Smith and her husband Justin Ing and their daughter Amelia; sisters-in-law Hilary (Andy) Vavasour and Rosalind (George) Gray and their families.

 

For many years Frank was a principal with the Peel Board of Education. His favourite pastimes, often spent with friends and family, included golf, baseball, gardening, his winter house in Florida, dogs and horses and playing cards. He was a very caring and social man. He loved to host a good party. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family.

 

Visitation was held at the Brampton Chapel of the Ward Funeral Home on Friday, June 17, 2016, from noon until the funeral service at 1 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Credit Valley Hospital’s Renal Centre-Watline Dept. were appreciated by the family.

EVELYN WALDEN (Dec. 27, 1936 - July 14, 2016)

 

Evelyn May Walden (née MacTavish) died peacefully at Matthews House Hospice in Alliston on July 14, 2016, in her 80th year.

 

Evelyn was born in Huron Township, daughter of the late James and Clara MacTavish.

 

Loving and devoted wife of Eugene Leland Walden.

 

Mother of Jeanne Petras (Dennis), Anne Walden, Ken Walden (Kathryn), and Joan Richardson (Albert).  Devoted grandmother of Daniella, Andrew, and David Petras; Whitney, Rebecca and Meghan Dew; and Samantha and Jacob Richardson.

 

Sister of Marion Lowry, Peg and Claire Thuell, and Jim and Marj MacTavish. Sister-in-law of Dorothy Wall, Don Partington, Evylene MacTavish and Ruby Walden.

 

Predeceased by Allan MacTavish (brother), Perrin Lowry, Cory Wall, Leroy and Mary Walden, Carl and Evelyn B. Walden, Ivan and Genevieve Walden, and Ray, Ernest, Clifford, and Eileen Walden.

 

Evelyn was born on the family farm and moved to Scarborough, Barrie and Alliston, where she was an elementary school teacher. She finished her career at Alliston Union Public School.  Evelyn lived an active life, playing shuffleboard, bridge, curling and providing service to her community. Since she and Eugene retired, her time has been divided between Briar Hill in Alliston, Vacation Village in Largo, Florida and the cottage she co-built on Twelve Mile Bay, Georgian Bay. Evelyn has touched more lives than she will ever know and will be truly missed.  Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Tuesday, July 19, 2016.

 

The funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at the Drury Funeral Centre in Alliston, with a reception to follow.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Matthews House Hospice-Alliston or St. John's United Church in Alliston would be greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
