Bruce Telecom workers seek new contract

Bruce Telecom and the union representing its construction and clerical workers have until May 29 to negotiate a new contract agreement. If they can’t meet that deadline, the possibility of a strike or lockout exists.

The municipally-owned Bruce Telecom and its 58 workers have been trying, unsuccessfully, to negotiate a new collective bargaining agreement with the help of a conciliation officer.

The union was optimistic a deal can be reached. The parties were to meet again on Friday with the assistance of a federally-appointed mediation officer.
