Lance Joseph Hafner of Toronto passed away suddenly at home on Feb. 26, 2016, at the age of 54.

Predeceased by his parents Shirley (Noble) and Joseph Hafner. He was the stepson of Norma Hafner and friend Keith Bushell of Kincardine.

Dear brother of Sharon of Hamilton and step-brother of David (Jacinda) of Mitchell, Verna-Marie Hafner (Jorin Gibson) of Toronto, and Dan (Sara) of Cambridge. He dearly loved his nephews Xavier, Jarrett, Ben and Ryan.

Lance attended Glendale S.S. and McMaster University in Hamilton. He obtained his LLB from Osgoode Law School in 1984 and an MBA from Western University in 1987. Lance often volunteered at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children, area food banks and with other charities.

A private family service was held on Monday, Feb. 29, 2016, at the Miller Funeral Chapel in Caledonia followed by interment at Woodland Cemetery, Hamilton.

Memorial donations to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Special thanks to Mark Miller and Robin Foster of Miller Funeral Chapel. 



Sandy James McCormick of Stratford passed away peacefully at the Stratford General Hospital on March 6, 2016, at the age of 68.

He was born in Kincardine on April 24, 1947, son of the late Orville and Florence McCormick.

Beloved husband of Betty.

Loving father of Shawn (Lena), Rob (Cathy), Tracy McCormick and Shannon Hoyles (Percy). Grandfather of Nicole, Sarah, Jack, Natasha, Jake, Katrina and Lily.

Dear brother of Carol Shwoob (Gary) and Dona Doyon (Terry). Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his first wife Sharon (Leggett) on Aug. 19, 1993.

Sandy worked for Dura (formerly Dominion Chain) for 35 years until his retirement. He was a sports enthusiast. He enjoyed baseball, hockey and was an avid fisherman.

Visitation was held prior to the funeral service at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016, at the W.G. Young Funeral Home, 430 Huron Street, Stratford.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

Bill Morgan of Kelowna, B.C., passed away over the weekend after a long battle with cancer, in his 73rd year.

Brother of Betty Jeanne and Ron Catto and Linda and Don Merritt, of Kincardine, and Fred and Gail Morgan of Ingersoll.

He was a good friend of Susan Demeur and family of Kelowna, B.C.

Predeceased by his brother Tom Morgan and nephew Steven Catto.

Cremation has taken place.



“Terry” Terence William Paquette of Ripley passed away after a short illness, surrounded by family, at Grey-Bruce Health Services - Owen Sound on March 6, 2016, at the age of 67.

He was the beloved husband of the late June (nee McIntyre) who predeceased him in 2012.

Terry was born on March 26, 1948, in Goderich, Ontario to the late Barbara Roots and Donald Paquette.

Dear father of Kerri & Keith Pollock, Mickie & Dave Elliott and Suzanne & Steve Nicholson, all of Ripley. Cherished grandpa of Matt, Gavin, Kennydi and Parker.

Survived by his siblings: twin Donald & Janet of Kincardine, Jim of Lucan, Philip & Cathy of Goderich, and Janice & Robin Matchett of Kincardine, and by his in-laws: Gord & Sandy McIntyre, Jean & Dennis McLeod, Shirley Marcotte and by many nieces and nephews.

Terry will be remembered as a kind and helpful neighbour, friend and community member. He was a dedicated Legion member and volunteered for 15 years as a firefighter for Ripley-Huron.

Visitation was held at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2016. A Royal Canadian Legion - Branch 440 service was held at 6:30 p.m. and a firefighter walkthrough followed.

The funeral service took place at 2 p.m. at St. Andrew’s United Church in Ripley on Friday, March 11, 2016, with Rev. Judy Zarubick officiating and organist Jennifer McCallum. A special solo was performed by niece Andrea Matchett with the eulogy given by brother Phil and a tribute to grandpa given by grandchildren Kennydi and Matt.

Donations to the Ripley Legion - Branch 440 or to Ripley Minor Hockey were appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Memorial information and condolences may be found online at .
