The atoms will now face Elmvale for the right to play for a provincial title. Elmvale also swept through the quarter-finals with a three-game sweep of Oro. A schedule for the Kincardine - Elmvale series has now been made official. You can find the complete series schedule at the conclusion of this article.

After pasting Gananoque 11-1 and 5-0 in Games 1 and 2 of the series last weekend on home ice, the atoms finished off the series with a 6-4 win on the road Saturday evening.

Game 3 was much closer than the first two games of the series in Kincardine. Myles Courtney scored first from Tyler Johns and Nathan Arnold to give Kincardine an early lead, but Gananoque replied less than one minute later. Brandon Bishop put one in the top shelf to put Kincardine back in the lead, but the Islanders battled back to tie the game. Late in the first, Jared Houghton scored an unassisted marker to give the Kinucks a one-goal lead at the first break.

Johns put Kincardine up by a pair when he flicked one over the Gananoque goaltender early in the second period. Bishop and Quinton Page had the assists. One minute later, Page scored a lovely-looking unassisted goal that made it 5-2 heading into the third period.

With their playoff lives on the line, the hosts battled back and struck with two quick goals in the third period to bring them to within a goal. With less than two minutes remaining, Page scored again to give the atoms some breathing room to finish off strong. Even after getting into penalty trouble in Game 3, Kincardine prevailed with a 6-4 victory.

Kincardine will now face Elmvale in an OMHA semi-final series. Game 1 is Saturday in Elmvale. Game 2 won’t be until the following Saturday, Feb. 27 in Kincardine at 5:45 p.m. Game 3 is the following day in Elmvale. If necessary, Game 4 would be in Kincardine March 4 and Game 5 would be in Elmvale on March 5.
