ELMER COURTNEY

Elmer Courtney of Ripley died on Jan. 13, 2016, at the Kincardine Hospital in his 89th year.

He was the beloved husband of Joyce (Elliott) for more than 65 years. Elmer was the only child born to his late parents Mary MacLennan and Harold Courtney on Dec. 18, 1927, in Kincardine, Ontario. Dear father of Lynn and Freda of RR2, Ripley, Gail and Brian Johnson of Kincardine, Carmon and Bernice of RR 2, Ripley and Joan and Mike Petersen of Edmonton. Survived by his daughter-in-law Carol and son-in-law Rodger Ludwig. Missed by his 24 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his son Elliott (2010) and daughter Ann Ludwig (2013).

Over the years Elmer farmed and ran a farm machinery business in the area and enjoyed many hours coaching minor sports and later being a spectator.

Arrangements entrusted to MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home, Ripley. The funeral service was conducted at St. Andrew’s United Church, Ripley on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to the service. Betty Elliott officiated. Shirley Harris, Karen Martyn and Allister MacKay provided music. Spring Interment at the Ripley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Kincardine Community Health Care Foundation, St. Andrew’s United Church or the charity of your choice were appreciated as expressions of sympathy.
