New website tracks snow plows

A new government website allows the public to get real-time information about weather and road conditions in their area.

Representatives from the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and the South Bruce OPP were in Kincardine last Tuesday to announce the launch of the ‘Track My Plow’ program that will allow residents in Bruce and Grey counties to track snow plows on provincial highways. The program will expand into other parts of the province in the future.

“We will continue to invest in winter highway maintenance operations to improve winter driving conditions and to keep Ontario’s roads among the safest in North America. ‘Track My Plow’ is one example of our commitment to partnering with highway maintenance providers to keep drivers informed and prepared for winter driving conditions,” Transportation Minister Steven Del Duca said in a media release.

The public can visit to see where snow plows are operating. The portal also provides weather information and alerts, and has a Twitter feed.
