Fatal crash in Walkerton

 A 20-year-old was killed in a single vehicle collision early Saturday morning in Walkerton.

The deceased was identified by police as Bradley Strader of Walkerton. He was one of six passengers in a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe that ended up in the Saugeen River. The driver of the vehicle and the other five passengers - four males and one female, all in their 20s,  were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The South-Bruce OPP, along with the Walkerton Fire Department and Emergency Services from Bruce and Grey Counties responded to a single vehicle crash on Durham St. East in Walkerton at roughly 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Police said preliminary investigation into the crash determined the driver of the Tahoe was heading west on Durham St. East when it left the roadway and collided with a light standard on the north side of the road. The vehicle then continued down a steep embankment before coming to rest on its side in the Saugeen River.

Strader, an electrician at Weber's Electric in Walkerton, was pronounced dead at the scene by the attending coroner.

Durham St. East was closed until about 10 a.m. Saturday for the safety of the emergency responders.
