Storm loses Game 1

McFadden has three assists in loss

Game 1 belonged to the Soo Greyhounds.

The Soo took a 1-0 series lead on the Guelph Storm last night at home with a 7-4 win. This one was close until the end, when the Storm sealed things with an empty net goal with 55 seconds to play.

Kincardine's Garrett McFadden had three assists for Guelph in the loss. He set up Givani Smith in the second period for Guelph's first goal of the game, making it 3-1. He assisted on back-to-back power play goals in the third period that made this game tight. He had a helper on CJ Garcia's goal at 15:37, then set up Jason Dickinson, also on the power play, with three minutes to go.

McFadden now has a goal and five assists in six playoff games.

Game 2 of the Western Conferences semi-finals is tonight (Thursday) in Sault Ste. Marie at 7 p.m. The series will shift to Guelph on Sunday for Game 3, with the puck dropping at 6:30 p.m. Game 4 is also in Guelph, Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Sleeman Centre. If needed, Game 5 in in the Soo April 17, Game 6 back in Guelph April 19 and Game 7 would be played April 21 in the Soo.

Erie and London will kick off their semi-final series tonight in Erie at 7 p.m. Game 2 is Friday night in Erie, with Games 3 and 4 in London on Sunday and Tuesday.

The OHL Eastern Conference semi-finals will both begin tomorrow (Friday) night, with North Bay visiting Barrie and Niagara at Oshawa.
