Skinner's hat trick paced Elmira to a 5-1 win over the Stratford Cullitons in Game 5, which clinched the Midwestern Junior B Conference title for the SugarKings. Elmira now advances to the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League championship tournament, the Sutherland Cup. Stratford remains in contention for the fourth and final spot at the Sutherland Cup, as a wild card berth has been thrown in the mix.

Skinner's hat trick came in front of a capacity crowd of more than 1,500 people at the Dan Snyder Memorial Arena in Elmira.

He also had a big shorthanded goal in the third period of Game 4 of the MIdwestern Conference finals, a 5-4 Elmira victory.

Elmira will join Caledonia, Leamington, and in all likelihood, Stratford, in the Sutherland Cup tournament. However, LaSalle also had a chance at being the wild card team to get a berth.

Skinner is actually the second Kincardine native to win the Cherrey Cup with the SugarKings. Barret Ehgoetz captained Elmira to the Cherrey Cup more than a decade ago.
