DAVID HAMILTON

David Nicolson Hamilton of Kincardine died at his residence on Dec. 2, 2014, in his 78th  year.

Beloved husband of the late Jessie Hamilton (née McLachlan).

Dear father of Lesley Hamilton (Jim Morrison) of Owen Sound, David (Deborah) Hamilton of Kitchener and Alison Hamilton of Bonnyville, Alberta. Cherished by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Dear brother of Bill (Bonnie) Hamilton and Margaret Goodall, all of Oshawa.

Visitation took place at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine from 1-2 p.m. on  Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2014. The funeral service followed at 2 p.m. in the Davey-Linklater Chapel with Rev. Rob Hiscox officiating.

 HELEN HUNT

Helen Hunt (née Gray) died quietly at the Post Inn Village in Oakville on Nov. 30, 2014.

She will be missed by daughter Ann (Mike) Selley, granddaughter Trina (David) Hogg and great-granddaughter Peyton.

Predeceased by husband Orme.

Helen grew up in London Ontario and enjoyed many years at her cottage on Bruce Beach.

The funeral was held at the McKersie Kocher Funeral Home in Milton on Dec. 6, 2014.

 

Interment Woodland Cemetery in London where she joined her parents Mabel and Bert Gray and her sisters Evelyn, Mabel and Jean.

 

Memorial donations in her name can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

 

Her heart and spirit will remain always at her beloved cottage.

 

 

 

MURIEL KIRBY

Muriel Kirby (née Ryan), formerly of Kincardine, surrounded by her husband and daughters, passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness at Sunnyside Nursing Home in Kitchener on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014, in her 87th year.
She will be sadly missed by her husband John, and her daughters Valerie (Tim), Diane (Martin) and Sylvia.  Cherished Nana to Shannon, John, James, Robert and Laura.

Fondly remembered by brother-in-law Michael Kirby, sister-in-law Lorna Kirby, and many nieces and nephews in England.

Muriel was predeceased by her parents William and Beatrice Ryan, sister Marion Elliker, brother Raymond and nephew Michael Elliker, in Loughborough, U.K.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 15, 2014, at the Anglican Church of the Messiah, 415 Russell Street, Kincardine, with Reverend Rob Hiscox officiating. Muriel’s ashes will be scattered in the Garden of Remembrance following the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society would be gratefully appreciated by her family.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Tom Irvine and the staff of Laurel Creek at Sunnyside Nursing Home for their wonderful care and support as well as the dedication of the volunteer community for its support during Muriel’s stay there.

 

ROSS LOCKWOOD

 

Ross Lockwood of Ripley, beloved husband of Shirley Lockwood (Beattie), passed away at the Kincardine Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, at the age of 90.

 

Ross was born in Danville, Quebec on Aug. 2, 1924, to the late Miriam (Messenger) and John Lockwood.

 

Dear father of Allan (Melanie) Lockwood of Kemptville, Helen (Edward) Smith of Smiths Falls, Bev (Joe) Fry and Gail (Ron) Lotton, all of Ripley. Also greatly missed by 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

 

Predeceased by son-in-law Kermit Goodhue.

 

Visitation was held at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley from 7-9 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 1, 2014.  The funeral service was conducted from the chapel at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014 with visitation for one hour prior. Betty Elliott officiated. 

 

Interment to be held at a later date in Danville, Quebec.

 

Donations to the CNIB Guide Dog Assistance Fund were greatly appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

BRYAN McCONNELL

Bryan Wray McConnell, beloved son of Janet (Husk) and Wray McConnell of R.R. #5, Kincardine, passed away suddenly on Dec. 2, 2014, at the age of 46.

He was born in Kincardine on Dec. 4, 1967.

Survived by his brother Tim McConnell and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Predeceased by sisters Angela and Heather Lynne.

A memorial service was held at the MacKenzie & McCreath Funeral Home in Ripley at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 8, 2014, with Judy Zarubick officiating.

Interment Ripley Cemetery.

HELEN SLESSER

Annie “Helen” Slesser (née Davey) of Kincardine, died at Trillium Court, on Thursday, Dec. 4, 2014, in her 93rd year. 

Beloved wife of the late Jack Slesser.

Dear mother of Shirley (Jack) Hackett of Kincardine, Marilyn (Ken) MacDonald of Kincardine and Bob (Cathy) Slesser of Tiverton.

Loved grandmother of Kevin (Esther) Hackett, Michael (Andrea) Hackett, Todd (Nathalie) MacDonald, Michelle (Tim) McConaghy and Jody Slesser and great-grandmother of Cameron, Mikaela, Mitchell, Kieran and Oliver.

Cherished sister of Reginald Jr. (Lois) Davey of Kincardine, Bert Davey of Tiverton and Ronald (Betty) Davey of London and sister-in-law Irma Slessor of Kincardine.

Predeceased by her granddaughter Kerrie-Ann Slesser, her brothers Lawrence (Effie) Davey, Leslie Davey and Owen Davey, sister Phyllis (Herbert) Shelton and sister-in-law Ruth Leggett.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine, on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014 from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Lynda Janzen officiating.

ALAN UNDERWOOD

Alan “Al” Underwood of Kincardine passed away at Trillium Court on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014, in his 84th year.

Beloved husband of Marian Underwood (née Orr).

Dear father of Debby (Jim) McMullen of Parry Sound, Kathy (Doug) Puddicombe of Holland Landing and Jamie (Vicki) Underwood of London. Loved grandfather of Katelyn (Richard), Bethany (Chris), Brett, Krista (Alex), Brianna and Brayden; and great-grandfather of Casen and Brooklyn.

Brother-in-law of Merle Underwood of Wingham, Marg Underwood of Gorrie, Margaret Reid of Ripley, Eilean (Jack) Ribey of R.R. #4, Paisley, Lois Kerr of Harriston, Harvey Orr of Kincardine, Vera Orr of Kincardine and Mary Orr of Ripley. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by his brothers Glenn and Murray Underwood, brothers-in-law Howard and Bob Orr, Leonard Reid and Bob Kerr.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home in Kincardine on Friday, Dec. 5, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

The funeral service was held at the Knox Presbyterian Church in Kincardine at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, with Rev. Kathy Fraser officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jim McMullen, Doug and Brett Puddicombe, Ron and Paul Ribey and Kevin Orr. Flower bearers were Katie Tsang, Beth McMullen, Krista Vanpelt and Brianna Underwood.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

Rita Audrey Walters (née Stroeder) of Kincardine and formerly of Tiverton died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre-Kincardine, on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, in her 59th year.

Beloved wife of Chris Walters.

Dear mother of Kevin (Jennifer) Walters of Collingwood and Jamie Walters (Rita Duncan) of Walkerton. Cherished grandmother of Lillian and Heidi.

Loved sister of Bill Stroeder of Ripley, Jerome Stroeder of Toronto and Helen (Phillip) Weber of Formosa.

Predeceased by her sister Julie Stroeder.
