Variety of drugs netted in Ripley raid

Two people were arrested and numerous drugs were seized  when police raided a Tain Street, Ripley home Aug. 29.

The OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau - Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU), with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region Canine Unit (K9), South-Bruce OPP and South-Bruce OPP Crime Unit, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant on Aug. 29 at the property.

Police seized a variety of controlled substances in the home, including marijuana, oxycodone, hydromorphone and methamphetamine. The combined estimated value of the seized controlled substance was $1,200. Police further seized offence related property, which consisted of marijuana production equipment and trafficking paraphernalia estimated at $1,800.

A 65-year-old Huron-Kinloss Twp. man was arrested and charged with production of cannabis marijuana, possession of cannabis marijuana for the purpose of trafficking, possession of oxycondone for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of hydromorphone, possession of cannabis resin and failure to comply with the conditions of a probation order.

A 49-year-old Huron-Kinloss woman was arrested and charged with the same offences, as well as an additional count of failing to comply with the conditions of a recognizance.

Both were held in custody pending the results of bail hearings.
