Emerald ash borer discovered in Kincardine

The Municipality of Kincardine has now received confirmation that the emerald ash borer infestation has reached the community.

According to a press release issued Monday by the municipality, Kincardine council, the Environmental Action Group, staff and stakeholders are in the process of developing a plan to respond to this crisis. The response plan will address removal of trees on municipal land that may present a hazard to public safety or property, short-term and longer-term options to manage the anticipated volume of felled trees, as well as a tree replacement program. Also included will be advice for residents with ash trees on their properties.

Further information on the Emerald Ash Borer may be found on the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority website: www.svca.on.ca

As the municipal response plan develops, regular information bulletins will be posted to the municipal website at www.kincardine.net.
