The South-Bruce OPP Marine Unit was patrolling the waters of Lake Huron last Sunday, July 20.

They stopped to inspect a blue Bayliner V-Hull, and discovered the vessel was lacking some of the required safety equipment. The operator, a 31-year-old man from Elmira, was charged under the Canada Shipping Act - small vessel regulations for the violation.

Required safety equipment for boats, sail boats and personal watercraft can be found at www.tc.gc.ca/boatingsafety. Operators are encouraged to ensure their vessel is properly equipped each time they leave the dock.
