A 24-year-old Hanover man is facing several charges after trying to dodge police in Lucknow on St. Patrick's Day, March 17.
At 12:44 a.m., a South-Bruce OPP officer patrolling Highway 9, Greenock Twp., noticed a grey Ford Taurus moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicles' speed was displayed on radar at 137km/hr in a posted 70km/hr zone. The driver was signalled to stop the vehicle, but decided to continue driving, at that speed, towards Lucknow.
The vehicle made some quack turns in the village of Lucknow, and police found the car, stopped, with the engine running, behind the Mac's Milk store. The driver, however, was no longer in the vehicle. Investigating officers were able to identify the man that had been driving the suspect vehicle, though police did not detail how, or where, they caught up to him.
The man has been charged with racing a motor vehicle, using plates not authorized and two counts of failure to stop for police. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 15, 2014, to answer to the charges.
