Police have released more details about an early morning raid along Highway 9 in Greenock Twp. recently.
As reported last week, police entered a residence on the strength of a search warrant and arrested five people. The South-Bruce OPP, the South-Bruce OPP Crime Unit, OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, OPP Drug Enforcement Unit, Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit entered the residence at 5 a.m., and arrested five people without incident.
A 33-year-old man Brockton man, a 46-year-old Brockton man, a Huron-Kinloss woman, 40, a 38-year-old Brockton woman and a 16-year-old male are all facing charges of possessing a prohibited firearm, possession of a controlled substance, unauthorized use of a firearm, unauthorized use of a weapon, possession of stolen property more than $5,000. Some of the five charged also face charges for probation breach, firearm regulation breach and/or failure to comply breaches.
Officers netted a fully loaded assault rifle, a quantity of illegal street drugs and stolen property at the residence. Police stressed that this is an isolated incident, and there was no threat to public safety.
