Kincardine’s annual Santa Claus parade will take place Saturday evening, with one special new addition.

This year, for an hour before the parade, the Kincardine library will welcome children to come in and enjoy activities and hot chocolate. The parade will leave the Zehrs parking lot at 6:30 p.m. and travel down Sutton Street to Broadway Street and then down Queen Street, ending at Victoria Park.

Jackie Pawlikowski, executive director of the Kincardine and District Chamber of Commerce, said about 60 floats and participants have signed up for this year’s parade. This year’s theme is ‘I’ll be Home for Christmas.’ The Kincardine Bulldogs hockey team will take part in the parade for the first time in at least a couple of years, after previous game schedules kept them away.

Shopper’s Drug Mart will be collecting non-perishable food items again this year for the Kincardine food bank. Sisters Kelly McDonald and Kasey Searle will conduct a toy drive during the parade.

“They were very successful last year, so they are doing it again,” Pawlikowski said.

Following the parade, children will be able to visit with Santa at the gazebo in Victoria Park.
