Wolves beat Muskies at home

Regular season schedule ends this weekend

The Ripley Wolves picked up a big win at home Friday night.

The Wolves beat the 14-4 Shelburne Muskies 6-5 in an exciting contest at the Ripley Community Centre.

The league’s leading scorer, Nick Locking, tallied three times for the Wolves. One of Locking’s goals came with Ripley on the power play.

Jeremy McQuillin,Travis VanGaver, Darrin McDonald and Shea Armstrong each scored once for Ripley, which now sits just one point back of the fifth place Palmerston 81s.

VanGaver, McDonald, McQuillin, Corey McCrae, Dustin Catto and goaltender Scott MacSween all picked up assists in the win.

MacSween was outstanding after relieving starter Jason Reid early in the contest. He picks up the win in goal, while Rob Senay suffered the loss for the Muskies.

The Wolves now have just two games remaining in the season – a Friday night home date with the Walkerton Capitals and a Sunday afternoon game in Palmerston.

Elsewhere in the WOAA over the weekend, Walkerton beat Shallow Lake 4-2, Saugeen Shores beat Durham 10-6, Lucknow defeated Palmerston 5-4, Elora over Drayton 5-3, Palmerston over Nottawasaga 6-3, and Shelburne 6 Lucknow 1.

This is the final weekend of the regular season before the playoffs begin. While it is possible the Wolves could once again end up in the AA playoffs, it looks as though Ripley will play for an A championship this season.
