Our doors are opening once again as Doors Open Kincardine gears up for this year’s event, set to take place Saturday and Sunday.

Past favourites, along with new and noteworthy sites for 2013, shape an event that’s sure to please all interests and ages. The Walker House Heritage Centre (event headquarters) returns, as does the Kincardine Lighthouse and Marine Museum, Bruce Power Visitors’ Centre, Bruce Power Training Centre, Inverhuron Pioneer Cemetery, and many more.  New this year; be sure to visit the Inn at the Harbour to experience this recently renovated, fully accessible property; not to mention the amazing views from one of the brand new suites that will be open to the public.

The provincial theme of “Cultural Expressions” has Doors Open Kincardine shining a light on arts in our community.  Featuring nine artist’s studios, Victoria Park Gallery, and additional artisans displaying their works in the Scougall Gallery, will provide a new and unique visual element to an already popular event.

Continuing the celebration of arts in the community, visitors are invited to Paint the Park. Participants can test their skills as artists and leave their mark on this year’s Doors Open Kincardine event.  A giant blank canvas boat sail, along with paint, brushes, and various other gizmos and gadgets, will be set up in Victoria Park on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Program brochures will be available at the Kincardine Visitor and Information Centre on Victoria Day weekend.
