ROBERT KEYES

Robert Allan (Bob) Keyes recently passed away at Georgetown Hospital.  Bob resided in Tiverton during his early teens and attended both Tiverton and Kincardine schools.

He served in the Canadian Navy for five years, then enlisted in the Halifax Police Force. He later transferred to the Toronto area and became a member of the Toronto Township detachment, from which he retired as a staff sergeant.

Bob was very active in the Masonic Lodge, Shriners and Canadian Legion. He was extremely proud of his many roles in the Masons and Shriners and the assistance which they provided to disabled and underprivileged children.

He was not only a great friend, but also a great brother. Bob will be sadly missed by his many relatives and friends from Nova Scotia to Ontario to British Columbia. They will all remember him for his wit and repertoire of stories for any occasion - even the repeats were funny!

Bob was predeceased by his wife Emma (née McKenzie) from Nova Scotia; and his parents, Lawson and Irene Keyes (née Dickson), formerly of Tiverton and recently of Kincardine.

Survived by brother Earl and his wife Patsy, of Mesa, Arizona; as well as by several nephews and nieces on both sides of the family. They all loved him and waited for a new (or old) story so they could tell it to their friends.

Bob’s ashes will be placed with Emma’s in the Georgetown area.

Steven William Wessels, age 56, of Kincardine, peacefully passed away after a short illness on April 26, 2013 with his boys by his side.

Loving father of Lee and Cody. Grandfather of Rory.

Dear son of Louise Wessels.

Brother of Ann Green (Ken). Fondly remembered by his nephews Justin and Nicolas Green (Karly Rix), and by great nephew Carter Green.

Steve was employed by Cottrill’s Heavy Equipment for many years. He enjoyed his job and the camaraderie with his fellow workers. In past years he volunteered with the Kincardine Fire Department; coached, trained and managed minor hockey teams; and was an avid scuba diver.

As per Steve’s wishes, he has been cremated. A gathering of family, friends and co-workers will take place at a later date.

Memorial donations to the Kincardine Fire Department would be appreciated by the family.
