Cozy Cat Kennels and the SPCA are once again inviting the public to come out to enjoy a good meal for a good cause.

The animal rescue centres will hold their third annual Spay-ghetti Dinner and Silent Auction with proceeds going to spay or neuter and care for rescued animals. Last year, the event drew a large crowd of hungry supporters and raised $5,800, after expenses. The proceeds were split equally between Cozy Cat and the Huron County SPCA.

“It was very successful and I hope it will be as successful this year,” said Helga Szekely, of Cozy

Cat Kennels. “It was like a family time together. People talk together and it’s a nice time.”

The Spay-ghetti Dinner will be held Saturday at the Kincardine Legion. Doors open at 5 p.m. and dinner is at 6:30 p.m. with spaghetti, Caesar salad, garlic bread and dessert. Szekely said there are many terrific silent auction items to bid on.

“We would just love people to come out,” she said.

Szekely encourages anyone interested in attending to purchase tickets as soon as possible to allow organizers time to arrange meals. Tickets are $15 for adults and $7 for children and are available at Quinn’s Florist, Pet Valu, Country Depot, Jerome Flowers and Gifts, Queen Street Veterinary Services and Kincardine Veterinary Clinic. Tickets are also available at Cozy Cat Kennels by calling 519-396-3232.

“Support is very much appreciated,” Szekely said. “This is my only fundraiser. It’s great to work with the SPCA and we help each other out.”
