Midget hockey is alive and well in Kincardine.

Both the Miller Insurance midget Kinucks and the Beisel Contracting AE Kinucks will play for All-Ontario championships.

The Miller Insurance midget rep team last week wrapped up a three-game sweep of Ingersoll, while the Beisel AE (additional entry) team just clinched a spot in the OMHA AEGR3 Championship Series with a Game 5 tie in Collingwood.

A 2-2 draw was enough to get Kincardine off to the finals. The Kinucks had two wins, one loss and two ties to give them the necessary six points to eliminate Collingwood.

Game 5 was played in Collingwood Saturday night, and Kincardine had plenty of jump. Jason Dales opened the scoring from Geordie Farrell and Logan Shewfelt in the first period. A power play goal in the middle frame made it a 2-0 game. Shewfelt finished a nice feed from Dave McFarlan. Evan Brown also assisted on the goal.

Collingwood scored twice in the third period to make things interesting.

Kincardine scored what they thought to be the go-ahead goal, but the official waved it off right away on an in-the crease call. Both teams had some good chances in overtime, but neither team could score.

The Beisel midgets will now face Mooretown in the OMHA Finals. Mooretown is coming off a three-game sweep of Caledonia, which they wrapped up with an overtime win in Game 3 on the weekend.

As soon as a schedule has been finalized, it will be posted on this website.

The same is true for the Miller Insurance midget reps, who will play Game 1 Sunday in Penetang.
