Starting at midnight tonight, do some tweeting for Jorie.
Kincardine's Jorie Elliott, who has been diagnosed with Leukemia, would like to meet Canadian pop sensation Justin Bieber, and you can help make it happen.
Anybody and everybody with a twitter account are encouraged to "tweet" Justin Bieber to let him know his time would make a difference in the life of a teenage girl from Kincardine. Simply use the hashtags #TurtlesForJorie and #JustinMeetJorie in a tweet directed at Bieber, a Stratford native who has become one of the world’s biggest pop sensations.
Elliott, a Grade 10 student at Kincardine District Secondary School, is currently undergoing treatment in London. Active in athletics, she is undoubtedly being missed by her teammates on the Kincardine Montgomery Ford midget rep hockey team, and apparently wants to meet the “Beebs”. The turtle hashtag reference refers to the young lady's crusade a few years ago, when she successfully lobbied municipal council to install 'turtle crossing' signs on Bruce Ave., near the former municipal landfill.
You’re encouraged to tweet Bieber at midnight tonight, through to 11:59 p.m. Friday night. If you don't have a twitter account, you can sign up for one here. The Independent is on twitter too - you can find us @kincintheslot
