Kincardine’s fire department will take to the ice this spring to battle the OPP for the title of greatest emergency services team.

The teams will face each on April 6 at the Davidson Centre arena for a charity hockey game. The winning team will receive the coveted Brass Nozzel trophy and bragging rights as the greatest emergency services team.

Proceeds from the event will go to the Kincardine food bank and Community Living Kincardine and District. Fire trucks and OPP cruisers will set up at the event for tours.

Paul Seratore, of the Kincardine Firefighters Association, attended last Wednesday’s council meeting and asked council to allow the teams to use the ice surface for three hours rent free to allow them to donate more to the local charities.

“Since this will give us an opportunity to view the clash of the titans and support two charities, I’ll support it,” said councillor Ron Coristine.

Council agreed to waive the rental fee, which amounted to less than $450. The game will take place April 6 at 6:30 p.m.
