The Knights are cruising into the Christmas break with a perfect record.

The Kincardine District Secondary School boys hockey team improved to 4-0 with a 9-4 drubbing of the Peninsula Shores District High School Phoenix Wednesday afternoon at the Davidson Centre.

Kincardine, leading 5-3 at the second intermission, exploded for four goals in a four-minute span early in the third period to put the game out of reach.

The Knights got two goals each from Conor Walden, Mike Cracknell and Jared Colling. Garret Meurs, Brandon Mullen and Zac McIntosh each scored once for Kincardine.

Meurs added three assists, as did Matt West. McIntosh and Josh MacDonald had two helpers each, while single assists went to Walden, Mullen, Colling, Scott Beaton and Josh Gauthier.

Goaltender Easton Battler played well, winning his first start of the season in the KDSS net.

Kincardine had a game with St. Mary’s High School of Owen Sound postponed last Monday. A date for that game has yet to be set.

The next scheduled Bluewater Athletic Association (BAA) regular season game for the Knights is not until after the Christmas break. KDSS will host the John Diefenbaker Secondary School Trojans Jan. 9 for a 1:30 p.m. start.
