Turns out, they were not lumberjacks.
Two men were arrested last Wednesday (Jan. 16) night after police received a report of two suspicious males carrying an axe through the village of Lucknow. Officers located the men on Campbell Street and arrested them without incident.
One of the men provided officers with a false name while being processed. A 23-year-old man with no fixed address has been charged with two counts of possessing a controlled substance, possessing a weapon, obstructing police, uttering threats, breach of probation and failure to comply with an undertaking.
Both men remained in custody as of Friday morning pending the results of a bail hearing.
About the same time, 10:30 p.m., police received a report of a disturbance on Victoria Street South in Walkerton. Officers arrived to find an intoxicated man upset and yelling. A 33-year-old man was charged with public intoxication. He was held in custody for the night.
