Ripley wins annual challenge

The Bob Campbell Fuels Kincardine vs. Ripley Challenge Spiel was held at the Ripley Curling Club this year, on the Jan. 19 weekend.

Winners of the early draw was the team of Peter McNay, Jackie Nesbitt, John Kranenburg and Sandra Husk. Second place went to another Ripley tam, skipped by Jim MacDonald. Other rinks were skipped by Dave Robinson, Barb Kester, Gene Gilliespie of Kincardine and Ripley’s Brad Engel.

Late draw winners was the Ripley rink of Francis Hogan, Cindy Simpson, Murray MacKinnon and Donna Elliott. The Ripley rink of Cathy Alcombrack finished second overall. Other teams in the late draw were skipped by Pauline Witzke, Bryan MacDonald, John Downs of Kincardine and Mike Kobayashi of Ripley.

The overall championship went to the Ripley Curling Club, with 208 points to Kincardine’s 123. The Campbell Fuels trophy this year will stay at its rightful home at the Ripley Curling Club and will be all shined up for the rematch in  Kincardine next year.
