JOHN BAYLEY

John Edgar Bayley, of Corunna and formerly of Kincardine, died at the Bluewater Health in Sarnia on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, in his 66th year.

Beloved spouse of Catherine Van Bastelaar.

Loving father of Gill Bayley, of Ottawa.

Fondly remembered by his brother, David Bayley, of Cambridge.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013 from 12 noon until the time of the funeral service at  1p.m. with Rev. Rob Hiscox officiating.

Interment Mount View Cemetery, Cambridge.

RAYMOND GILLIS, JR. - Jan. 6, 1958 - Jan. 13, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Raymond Joseph Gillis Junior, peacefully at home in New Liskeard, with his wife Valerie Lynn at his side, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He is survived by stepdaughters: Amanda (Don), Hayley (Kyle), Dana (Mark); and was proud Papa to grandchildren Jared, Ryder, Amber, Hayden and Wyatt. Also survived by his mother-in-law Margaret Brimcombe.

Raymond is survived by his loving parents, Raymond and Helen Gillis, of Kitchener. Sisters Joan McCormick (Tim), of Kincardine; Diane Amaral (Manny), of Cambridge; and Janet Gillis, Audrey Halter (Rob), of Kitchener.

Raymond will be greatly missed by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins for his kind and generous nature. He found comfort volunteering his time with various organizations. Donations to the Salvation Army in Raymond's memory would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy.

A special thank you to Reverend Linda White for her guidance on his journey; and to Dr.Stacy Desilets, Leslie Edwards and care partner Nicole Lachapelle for their kindness and compassion.

 

OLIVE HANNA

Olive Bernice Hanna, of RVilla in Ripley and formerly of Kinloss Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at South Bruce Grey Health Centre in Kincardine on Monday, Jan. 14, 2013, in her 87th year.

Olive was born in Culross Township on March 11, 1926 to the late Duncan and Mary Etta (Hetherington) Thompson. Olive was an elementary school teacher and spent the majority of her teaching career at Hillcrest Central School in Teeswater where she taught primary grades until her retirement in 1988.

Beloved wife of the late Ernest Hanna, who predeceased her in 1988.

Dear mother of John Hanna, of Winnipeg; Jim Hanna and his wife Brenda, Lloyd Hanna, and David Hanna and his wife Jodi, all of Kinloss Township.  Olive treasured the memories of her daughter Lois Hanna, who has been missing since July 1988; she missed her deeply every day.

Cherished grandmother of Kaeley, Mikaela, Kaden and Olivia.

Also survived by sisters Jean Willitts, of Mount Albert; and Helen Woloschuk and her husband Steve, of Winnipeg; along with many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her parents Duncan and Mary Etta (Hetherington) Thompson, brothers Mac Thompson (Betty) and Lloyd Thompson (Bea), brothers-in-law Don Willitts and Bill Brack and sisters-in-law Edna Bell (Morley), Irene Bell (Morrell) and Martha McKee (Gordon)

Visitation was held at the Tiffin Funeral Home, Teeswater on Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. 

The funeral service was conducted from Teeswater United Church at 11 a.m. on Friday, January 18, 2013 with Reverend Hannah Lee officiating. Words of remembrance were given by son Jim Hanna. Floral tributes were carried by Olive’s grandchildren: Kaeley, Mikaela, Kaden and Olivia. Pallbearers were her nephews Don Bell and Tom Willits and her sons John, Jim, Lloyd and David.

Cremation has taken place. Spring interment in Culross-Teeswater Cemetery.

MARION PALMATEER

Marion May Palmateer (née Woods), of Kincardine, passed away at Huronlea Home for the Aged in Brussels, on Tuesday, Jan., 15, 2013, in her 94th year.

Beloved wife of the late Harvey Palmateer. 

Dear mother of Wayne (Janet) Palmateer, Bonnie (Doug) Emmerton and Beverly (Bill) Spence, all of Kincardine.

Dear grandmother of Jeff (Bonnie) Palmateer, Craig Palmateer, Krista (Shawn) Troke, Kevin (Jenn) Emmerton, Joelene (Matt) Murphy, and David Spence. Cherished great grandmother of Kayla, Dylan, and Brianne Palmateer; Nathan and Jordan Troke; Rylie and Zoe Emmerton; Amanda Long; and Sloan and Will Murphy; and great-great grandmother of Peyton Long.  Survived by her sisters-in-law Dorothy Woods, of Kincardine; Irene Palmateer, of Toronto; and Doris Palmateer, of Edmonton. Sadly missed by many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her brothers Wallace, Austin and Cleo Woods; and her sisters Pearl Eskrick and Eleanor Woods.

Visitation was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine, on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m, where the funeral service was held on at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, with Pastor Judy Zarubick officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Jeff Palmateer, Craig Palmateer, Kevin Emmerton, David Spence, Shawn Troke and Matt Murphy. The flower bearer was Dylan Palmateer.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

JOHN ROWLAND

John "Jack" Blair Rowland, of Kincardine, died at the South Grey Bruce Health Centre, Kincardine, on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, in his 77th  year.

Beloved husband of Dorothy (née Nicholas).

Dear father of Michael (Maureen) Rowland, of Burlington; Iowa and Shawn (Tracey) Rowland, of Cambridge. Grandpa Bop to Jillian Rowland (Josh Bebe); and Annie, Paul, Ian, Matthew, Mitchell, Julia, Jacquelyn and Lauren Rowland.

Loving brother of Mary Costello, of Kitchener; and Edward (Maggie) Rowland, of Saskatchewan.

Predeceased by his sister Elizabeth MacDonald, brother Michael Rowland, as well as a brother-in-law Don Costello. 

Visitation was held at Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.

The funeral mass was held at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church , Kincardine at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan.16, 2013, with Rev. Fr. Don Wilhelm officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Shawn Farrell, Mike Husk, Jamie Kloosterboer, Greg Farrell, Claude Wiggerman, Chris Sullivan, Mitchell Rowland and Mike Hamilton. 

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.

BETTY STANLEY

Betty Jean Stanley, of Kincardine, died at the South Bruce Grey Health Centre – Walkerton on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, in her 79th year.

Beloved sister of Leona Settley (Gary Gaeler), of Walkerton; Marj (Jim) McTavish, of Kincardine; Shirley MacKinnon (Oscar Trepanier), of Kincardine; and Helen (Clarke) Pollock, of Kincardine; and sister-in-law of Gary Ritchie, of Bayfield.

Sadly missed by her nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by her brothers John, Eric and Earl Stanley; and her sisters June McLean, Georgina Moore, Alma Dunk and Gloria Ritchie.

The funeral service was held at the Davey-Linklater Funeral Home, Kincardine on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013 at 11 a.m., with Rev. Rob Hiscox officiating.

Interment Kincardine Cemetery.
