The Kincardine Terry Fox Run will take place next weekend, thanks to a handful of volunteers who came forward to form a new committee.
Angela Gougeon, of the Kincardine recreation department, which is overseeing the annual cancer fundraiser, said that since last week six people stepped up to help run the Kincardine Terry Fox Run, which means the event will be able to continue.
“We’re just happy it’s running,” said Gougeon. “We’ll make it work.”
Organizers are hoping to see an increase in the number of people who take part in the Terry Fox Run this year.
“Last year we had 75 participants, so hopefully we’ll get more,” Gougeon said.
The Terry Fox Run will be held Sept. 16, starting from
Participants also receive a free swim pass and there will be a free barbecue, provided by the Kincardine Lions Club. T-shirts will be for sale the day of the run for $15 each.
Last year, the Kincardine Terry Fox Run raised $12,000 and organizers are hoping to raise a similar amount this year. Kincardine schools will be holding their own Terry Fox fundraising events on Sept. 14.
Pledge forms are available at several downtown Kincardine businesses and at the Davidson Centre.
